hey, not to worry, its not like eating twigs

just means you can get it in supplement form or tea form if you'd prefer it that way. and there are supplements that are DGL (DGL stands for De-Glycyrrhizinated Licorice. Licorice contains a naturally occurring substance known as glycyrrhizin. When consumed, glycyrrhizin has been shown to increase blood pressure and water retention). don't know about the candy variety. i used the supplement form when i needed it as i never was a big licorice fan growing up.....used to trade all my black jelly beans at easter time. my stepdad was a big fan of licorice though. i remember trading and bartering black jelly beans for chocolate with him.

LOL...I was that kid who traded everyone for their black jelly beans! I realised early in life that if I developed a taste for things others didn't want, I'd be rolling in candy! We used to get these taffy sort of things in orange, black and white wrappers (with moons and skulls and cats and stuff on it) - man, I'd have those all the way to summer vacation practically!

Maybe I could teach myself to gnaw on bark too?

Hey bro.
Have you tried the licorice ice cream?
It was years ago, but was a real hoot!

My favorite is Good N' Plenty!

Do these candies have real licorice in them, or just anise?

Hi Tiredofpain,

Now I have to go get some Halloween taffy. I totally know which ones you mean, and my fiance hates licorice, so I'm SET! Ha!

Hi, I just purchased some ground licorice root and took a tiny taste. WOW, TASTES great.

BUT, here is the bad news...it tests positive for starch.
