Has anyone knowingly ever received a "bad batch" of one of the tnf drugs?

I'm asking because on Feb. 7 I did my normal Humira shot. I had a very bad & unusual site reaction that I never had before, and never before when I was on Enbrel. It burned an area in my skin (literally) slightly smaller than the size of a 50-cent piece.

I ignored it until I could no longer ignore it and my rheumy wanted someone to look at it locally to make sure it wasn't shingles, cellulitis, etc.

My doctor agreed it was pretty nasty, but not infected, and it was less red/inflammed & not oozing anymore by the time I finally went.

Rheumy said go ahead & resume medications.

Have had 2 more Humira shots since then - no reactions, but no relief either. Inital burned area is still quite noticeable (now a dark pink color but no oozing and still get "shooting/stabbing" pain radiating from the site.

Rheumy raised the possibility that I may have received bad medication. I receive my Humira directly from Abbott now.

In the last 10 days or so many of my joints are visibly swollen and many of them burn - most notably my ankles, wrists, toes, fingers & shoulders. And throw in my right SI for good measure.

It took much longer for the Humira to even kick in than the Enbrel - I don't know what I will do if it is determined it has quit working after less than a year already.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Janet,

I'm sorry. I can't help you regarding any reactions with the anti-tnf drugs since I'm not using one, but have you contacted the manufacturer to report this problem?

Hope this problem is something minor, associated with that particular batch of the medication, and hope that you will find some relief soon.

Kind Regards,
Jay
