Hi Kelly,

You'll be OK.

It just takes some getting used to.

I remember the first time I went to do it. I was OK right up until I took the cover of the syringe, and then reality hit home!

Funnily enough, I'm OK with myself, but I couldn't inject anyone else!

Next time you try, just remember the gentle technique I mentioned. Rest the needle on your skin, and take as long as you like for it to gently pierce the skin.

All the best,

James

You can do it Kelly!
You'll get there, don't worry. I used to use an ice pack to freeze the skin up numb before I injected. Then pushed the plunger down very, very, VERY slowly. And yes, I think humira stings more than pre-mixed enbrel too. But once you do it a few times, it becomes so routine you could do it in your sleep.
Cheering for you!

I have been on Humira for 6 weeks ... I have the eppy pen kind and WOW it stings & burns and make me yell naughty words that the neighbors can hear but I have three teenagers and this is by far less painful ;- p
HUMIRA vs teenagers anyone ?

You guys are great! I feel better about it and I am a very strong willed person and I have made up my mind! The next time I have to take the shot I am just going for it!
I know what the outcome will be and 5min after I take the shot the pain is gone. My confidence is up and I know just what to do!

Try the PEN. It hurts more but for me I keep pushing down. I could never stand to use the seringe. If I see a needle I go crazy. I would rather it be painful than to have to watch the needle push into my skin.

Hey Jimmy, what does wriggling your toes do?? I haven't heard that before. I'll give it a try next time.
