Isn't sleeping better a blessing? I had one of those "can't sleep nights" last night because I just hurt all over. My ribs hurt when hubby put his arm across me. My feet hurt. My back hurt. I hurt just to be touched.,

Night before last he was up all night because of the Pred taper. He had never taken one before and I didn't think to mention to him to wait until a.m. to start it and he started it about 7:00 p.m. Talk about wired and wide awake. I felt so sorry for him. When he got to sleep about 6:00 a.m. he slept until about noon and he crashed last night. I hope the taper helps him.

Possi - I remember my grandmother's RA. Mostly I remember her hands because they were SO misshapen, but my mother tells me that her funny walk was caused by the fact that her big toes had turned at 90 degrees and now lay accross her other toes, as a result of the damage in the big toe joint. She had horrific RA and they didn't have much to treat it with back then.

Rumble - I still haven't been able to taper off the prednisone. However, I am making progress in recovering from the opioid pain meds so I'm also ready to try again. I'm still concerned it might be the pred that has given me so much improvement, rather than the mtx.

Wendy, hope the mtx works for you and you can decrease the pred. On the mtx, I thought it was working, thought it wasn't working, then decided it probably was working, but still hurt in most of the same joints. Over all, I think I'm better. But hip is still troubling me and it's back to the orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday. I'll tell him I want to take him up on the offer of an MRI, hopefully before the end of the year (deductibles start over in January) and probably get another steroid shot in the bursa. Haven't decided how I can feel a little better and still hurt in all the usual places....weird. AS sucks. It's like the longest term pain (feet) is still there, but the shortest term pain (fingers) still hurts at times. But I'm not as stiff in the morning. However, I don't sleep any better, either. Guess I will keep taking it.

Possi, sorry to take over your thread. Sorry it hurts to be touched...I feel the same way....no more snuggling unless I get to be the one who drapes over hubby. Fortunately, he doesn't mind much, but I fidget too much. Hope you feel better soon.
