If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

First off this I'm brand new to the site, this is my first post and to say the least I am ecstatic to finally be finding some answers.
I have had AS for 10 years now. I was not diagnosed with anything until 4+ years ago when I moved to 8k ft (Vail) and the flare ups got extremely bad. I was finally sent to a Rheumatologist but he never gave me a clear diagnosis (very frustrating) and I was put on Humira which helped out significantly when I could get it (mail order prescrip was a nightmare). I also don't like putting drugs in my body so I would go through periods testing my symptoms without the drugs. I finally saw an episode of Discovery Medical Mysteries (the ailment was AS) and it put all the pieces of my puzzle together esp the odd eye issues.
I am now back living in Boston and doctors to-date have been little to no help (narrow minded, fully Western medicine) since the start. I ask time and time again about diet, exercise, effects of my mediterranean anemia etc... and get little to no responses. Although over the past week I have had some of my own personal breakthroughs and one has this site to thank:
1.Ion Cleanse Ques - I just got back CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Vegas and was having some major wrist and hand pain. I just happened to stop by a booth that had people sitting with their feet in what looked like muddy water. In actuality it was a detoxifyng Ion Cleanse (by All Health Seekers™) … I of course had to try! The brochure says the following “the device generates a stream of positive and negative ions (charged atoms) which attract themselves to oppositely charged toxic (acidic) particles in the bloodstream (which is drawing from all parts of the body). During the treatment the lymphatic system goes into high gear and rids itself of the body’s toxins via the sweat glands (2k per foot ) and osmosis.” It took a good 4 hours to see ample effects which were pretty crazy - I was from little to no mobility in my right wrist and hand (for over a week) to full mobility/almost no pain (nevermind blemishes on my face completely clearing up). I was flaborgasted! Of course the machine carries a hefty price tag ($1,400) and I wanted to see if anyone from KickAS has used such a treatment and seen continued significant results? 2.NSD - Last DR's visit I mentioned that I had been eating little to no carbs (had gone on Atkins late summer/fall) and I was also taking Humira religiously every other week. I was seeing a big difference and my DR mentioned nothing to me abt a possible correlation w/ NSD. Now it totally makes sense and explains why I've had some major flare ups since Xmas even though I'm on Humira every week - I started eating carbs/starch again! Well no more starchies for for me 48 hrs and I can already feel the difference- and bonus my pants fit better too! 3. Dr Ques – Does anyone know of any great Rheumatologists in the greater Boston area that have an integrative medicine approach?
Can't wait to chat with you all!
Thanks, Trish

Nooooo, topics are fine. You have to get used to the time zones because you are talking to people from all over the world. I am onthe planet venus at the moment!! Is close to England...lol#
I am the site idiot so pay little attention to me. Lots of folks will be here to wish you well and tell you what a clot I am......
I see you are from Boston, now I was thinking of visiting, is it full of Americans! And can we have our tea back please.....lol
See said I was an idiot.
What do you think AS is and how do you think it will affect your life?

hi and welcome to the site.
you can do a very similair detox method using FOOTSIES DETOX FOOT PATCHES/PADS. much cheaper method but probably not as effective as the method you have mentioned though. Good thing with the footsies is they draw out toxins while you are sleeping and you could use them daily, or should i say nightly.
check out ebay, im sure i seen what you are talking about, they are like a foot spa detox and cost about $100 - $200.

Hi Trish. Found this searching. The comments at the bottom are very interesting but this one was the best: I personally own an Ion Cleanse machine. If I were asked to choose between FACTS and RESULTS, I’m certain I would go for the results. I cant explain how, but I’m a testimony that Ionic clease works. To hell with scientific FACTS.] http://www.flishfun.com/blog/technology/ion-cleanse-or-ion-scam/

Hello Trish - Welcome to KA, V. glad that you found us.
As Alan mentioned, we are a truly International bunch - all over the world and of course the time zones various apply (excepting for the night owls amongst us, some of whom 'never' seem to go to bed...<LOL>)
Suggest that you check out the 'alternative' forum here and also the NSD/LSD (starch) diets - but, looks like you might have found thatta one. Good for you. John 'Dragon Slayer' is one of our 'alternative' stalwarts, and a mine of information. Another suggestion would be to put in searches on the site, am sure that you'll pull up a stack of information.
Other than that, check out for 'good' herbalists - there are some around - snd any of the more reputable alternative sites. No, unable to give you any leads... Though, like you, *hate putting drugs into my body.
Look forward to reading your posts -
Take care -

Hi Trish,
Welcome to KA. It's a wonderful place to play and learn at the same time. I see you've already met the KA clowns.
I've never tried the ion cleanse myself but I know others who have. So far no one I know has had measurable improvement from it although they were all impressed at what they thought was coming out of their bodies. The way it was described to me was the the water started clear and after they'd had their feet in it bubbling away for a period of time it had turned dark brown. Well... unless they had really dirty feet to start with I was rather sceptical!
So you are the first person who has experienced a concrete improvement. I'm curious to know more. Has the improvement maintained? Do you require frequent treatments to prevent sliding back?

Hi and Welcome aboard..
The ION cleansers have been a big thing for me.
I have a friend that has one so at one time when they lived close she didn't mind me coming over and using it.
I have to say like the others I was impressed! To see nothing but water and your feet in there and then by the time it is finished the water was this horrible brown yucky color I knew that had to come from me, if I had not seen it for myself I would have never believed it.
Of course in the honeymoon phase I started planning on getting one, you can find them for as little as say 6 or 7 hundred. I guess after awhile that was just too much money to let go of. I will say that if you could afford one that it couldnt hurt getting rid of those toxins would be a definate plus, plus if you cant get excercise like some of us cant to sweat it out it would be a good idea.
If I ever had 700 to just throw around I would invest in one. What my friend Holly did she has 3 boys she would do the treatments once a day until the water was running fairly clear then 1 treatment a week. I do know that they are hardly ever sick but I dont contribute that wholly to the ION machine, I think it could help.
Thats just my experience with it.
