lol.....I have been using the name Magician since 1985. I am a 'old timer' to computers. When I first saw the Internet in University it was known as the BBS (bulletin board system) and looked identical to what the Net looks like now except there were no pictures. It was all text. I am such an old computer user I refuse to get a cell phone for I do not wish to be chained to a phone. lol

I think your name of icky is not icky when you explain how you came to choose the name it makes perfect sense to me.

Ray from the bottom of my heart thank you for making me feel welcome. I was so convinced I had AS I was floored when the dr. told me 'no. it's scoliosis'. I was so brave not crying in front of him. When I got home I realized how serious it really was.

Now the exercises the Arthritis specialist gave me to start doing daily made sense. And his telling me to 'not slouch and always sit straight' because I could become paralyzed if I sit the wrong way made sense. And the Arthotec. I was always told it was OK to take Extra Strength Tylenol on an as needed basis. Now I am being told to take powerful Athrotec twice daily AND Tylenol alongside it.

A doctor would never ever tell a patient to be jacking themselves up so high unless it was serious. frown

Can I send you a PM on this website?

I did not know that about your name, Ray, and I've often wondered how you came to choose such an icky name. laugh2

Now I know it makes much more sense. As you can see I wasn't at all imaginative with my name.

Wendy
People at work started calling me icky because of my stiff neck. One worker thought I looked stiff like Ichabod Crane so he called me icky. It stuck to me for years till i retired on a disability pension. I didn't mind the attention it gave me so I had no objections. After a year off work,(in 2001)I bought this computer just to learn something new and found KA.I used icky as my username whenever I needed one. Now...I wish I had a better nickname for my KA friends.I have had several nicknames that ppl have called me.Some old friends still use them but I go by Ray to my home family.
That's my story.

Hey magic, the words thaumaturgist and prestidigitator are old terms used to describe specific types of magicians. I forget what thaumaturgy is but prestidigitation is essentially sleight of hand. Neither is a mean or derogatory word, I was trying to be cute.

The childhood scoliosis was totally irrelevant to me. There was no pain and no restrictions on mobility, I wasn't really aware of it other than having a Dr. Bones (for real) draw on my back with a ball point pen. Very high tech procedures back in the day.

Obviously, your condition is far worse than mine ever was but I was I hoping to make you feel more at home by relating to your story with some personal experiences. I hope you find a way to get some relief very soon.

Take care of yourself Magic,

Chris
