Thank you and I found this thread interesting, I did get my CRP test and the results came back today and I was told it was "negative" and I quote...lol, I guess that means normal. I reckon when I do finally get to a doc I will get some more blood drawn and I will know more. I am glad to read this now so I will know I am not crazy (again) just in case...

Since lowering my prednisone, my ESR (sed rate) has shot up again. I had managed to get it down to around 40 (98 was the highest it's been), but now it's back up into the 60s. The thing is, the change was enough to convince doctors that my current dose of methotrexate is not working. So it can be a helpful measure.

I have read all of what has been said here and the dffinition of ESR and CRP. Still dont understand LOL
Is this an indication of inflamation in the body?

I have not (that im aware of) been tested since being diagnosed with AS however many years ago when suffering what I now know was a "flare" I was barely able to walk my doctor did some blood test I didnt know what they were but he said it showed a lot if inflamation in my body.
Would this have been the test you are all talking about?

Thanks

Hi aussiegirl,
Yes it shows tthe amount of inflamation levels I have mine checked every few months to see what is happening and how active my AS is although it dosent always follow that a low reading means no pain.
