I just can't believe one right after the other, like someone else said enough already! And it may not be in my backyard mad but that sure as heck doesn't make it any less importent and yes you being right in the middle of it AGAIN just makes us go OMG!

How is this going to affect your personally if you don't mind me asking like your shrimp boat, your property ect..?

It amazes me ok it doesn't but how awful and insensitive SOME people can be just because it's not happening to them...there just always seems to be someone in the bunch that just doesn't get it crazy

Love you and if there is anything at all that you think we can do just let us know, big hugs and prayers for all involved.

Hugs,

Lisa

Hi Lisa...oh yeah, there's always one in the bunch...I haven't been on in awhile but I was watching almost daily, so I wasn't too surprised...no biggie...something isn't quite right there...I really don't know why it seems that the Gulf Coast is smack dab in the middle of so much doodoo but I'm telling yall, if this oil covers everything, I'll be gone too, as soon as it's over...we probably will have to fish far from home for many years to come if we want to stay in the game...BP is hiring up all the fisherman to do "paid volunteer" work on the clean-up...it's a fraction of what they make and BBP is only hiring the fishermen(shrimpers, crabbers, oystermen, etc.)...not their boats and the lines go down the block...I'm not sure what's going to happen to our property value but I would imagine that we aren't covered for oiled spills on our insurance and we'll lose value...or lose it altogether...my shrimp business is probably a thing of the past...for a few years at least, they've already shut down fishing, so, not good, not good...Big Hugs & Much Love....MUAH!!! heart

Hello Michelle,

I recall when I lived in Florida almost a decade ago... I think that may be when they talked about more oil drilling in gulf.

Opponents state this was their worst nightmare... tourism and fishing industry in case of a big spill. And here it is...

Prayers for all those in Gulf Coast.

Tim

Hi Tim...yep, they knew the risks and the consequences long ago, that makes this even more unacceptable, our local officials are calling for BP to write out exactly what they will and will not pay for and when they plan on stepping forward, financially speaking...what a mess! Hugs to Master Mateo from me... heart

Watching the news of this over the last couple of days has made me just sick. Feeling your personal account makes it even more, well, personal.
Michelle, you have been through so much and you just keep giving!
Caring for and worrying about the wildlife as you do... You are special, indeed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours though it barely seems like enough.
Remember to be nice to yourself along the way too.
Hugs...
Tracey

Sweetie, you've all been in our prayers for days as we've watched this disaster develop. I truly hope BP is fined a MASSIVE amount (i.e. every penny they've made off that rig while it was unsafe).

We saw President Obama on the news Thursday evening, asking for help from anyone who had a new idea of how to deal with this. He asked that anyone, science teachers or whatever, who had an idea contact the White House. We've never seen a President do this before, so it really brought the severity home to us.

My sweetie has access to a very simple bit of technology that could help immeasurably. Unfortunately, he's having a hell of a time getting anyone at the White House (and he's pulled some very long strings trying to get the info to them), or at the US Consulate here in Toronto to pay attention. He tried 10 or 15 years ago to go commercial with it on behalf of the inventor. Unfortunately, they were blocked by the makers of the current, useless, technology because it would have cut in to their profits.

He has loose contacts at BP, so he's trying there next.

I've seen the video of the tests. It's cheap, easy, and effective. Had they paid attention last week, much of the disaster might have been averted. One guy at the US Consulate actually said that President Obama wasn't serious in his plea for help, he was just politicizing!!

And nobody's going to make money on this. The inventor's widow is willing to give it to them, without patent protection, because it's the right thing to do. She said she's happy to work out details like that after the crisis is dealt with.

It breaks my heart, because it isn't just jobs and livelihoods at stake, there are 400 odd species indigenous to that area that will be horribly impacted.

Chalk one up for the Great God Economics yet again. I keep hoping that "this time" they'll wise up and move us away from a petroleum based economy.

Michelle, my whole family's thoughts are with you all down there. hugss

Warm hugs,

Kat
