My sweetie (using a contact of a contact as a conduit) just wrote a letter directly to President Obama. We don't know if he'll see it, but we're hoping. I cannot believe that when he made that plea it was meant to be ignored. Also, he's sending the samples down, with an implementation plan, to a contact in Miami who has promised to get it to people in charge of marine pollution control and containment companies that will be part of the clean-up at the Gulf, as well as sending it to the BP higher ups.

Michelle, I rather doubt Mr. Obama even knows that anyone is trying to help. Probably, my sweetie is being hit with mid-level bureaucrats whose egos are half way up their a$$es. Certainly, the phone number to call with ideas is so deeply buried in the White House website that it took him ages to find it. When he finally found it and called, he got a voice mail message saying that the person he was trying to reach was away from the office. Nobody has called him since he left that message 4 days ago.

Anyway, the samples are en route to Miami as I type. So we're keeping our fingers crossed that someone can make this work.

Makes me want to give up my car, my gas fired furnace, all plastic, everything to do with petroleum. This is going to be way worse than the Exon Valdes...and that clean-up is nowhere near finished how many years after the disaster?

Just plain breaks my heart.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Sometimes it's the simple things that work best. During the first Gulf war, when they had so much problems with mines buried in the sand, one of our local farmers had a great idea to detonate the mines without anyone getting hurt. It was cheap and used equipment already in the field. He wanted to give his invention to the military for free, but he couldn't get anyone to listen to him.

It's a fine thing that this widow wants to do. I hope your sweetie can get to the right person.

I just get sick when I see or hear the latest news. It seems that they could have burned off 90% of the oil if they had just set it on fire early on, before the wind changed.

At least yall are trying to do something...and it's much appreciated...very much!! And you're right, the officials immediately throw up call centers and put what they cal constituent service personnel behind the desks and their purpose is to intercept phone calls...they know how to say 2 things:
1. Hello
2. I'll pass this information on.(Of course they never do...)

Thank you so much on behalf of all of us down here...I think I may get ahold of David, a reporter I know over at the Times Picayune and see what he has to say...Big hugs & much love Kat... hugss heart

cant they use nuclear weapons to stop this spill? or are these only good for killing people? russians would have acted and had this sorted by now - not america, they are more interested in who/how they will Sue. sleep1
