Well the Exxon spill in Prince William Sound was actually larger and the tanker Valdez that dumped that oil is owned by a Hong-Kong company and as you surely must know, the TransOcean Horizon rig is owned by a British company and the incident occured in the international waters of the Gulf of Mexico and that platform rig was comprised of valves, pipe, gaskets, etc. from every country on the planet...if we're to bear the blame when something goes wrong, we should at least have control of the situation...the only way to do that would be to prohibit foreign companies from doing business here and simply keep all of our oil and gas...if it were up to me, you'd be airing up the tires on your bicycle already...

Hi Michelle!

You were the first person I thought of the moment I heard the dreadful news of this. It just makes me ill to think of the habitat and animals that will suffer in this environmental disaster. I am not sure that I'll even be able to bear watching the coverage at that point. What an absolute horror and nightmare. Mankind, because it is all of us, is doing a rotten job of being stewards of this earth.

I can hardly believe you and your family are on the front line of a third huge disaster. What are you going to do with the Kalypso? Pull it up into dry dock? I can't recall exactly where your property is but by the map thought oh dear, you are right there. One comfort is knowing the animals have a friend in you, there trying to help heal any rescues!

My thoughts are with you and goodness I hope BP can get this thing sealed soon.
Hugs!

Thanks so much Mig...it really is an awful situation and in the last couple of days, it's become just overwhelming...I think it brings up a lot of the old feelings of uncertainty about the future of our community and the general tone is reminiscent of the post hurricane days...this really affects everyone I know, so it's a difficult time...and just as we heard through the feedback of those outside of our community, we're hearing that we are somehow deservant or culpable and I really don't understand that reasoning...so it's disheartening to say the very least...as for the KAlypso, I haven't decided...off to bed, it's kind of hit me all at once, it started out a rough week with my first Mother's Day without Mom and it just continued to go down hill from there...thanks again...xxooxx
