My heart goes out to you, Megan. Our pets are more than mere animals, they are family.

Please, know that you did what was right - for Maki - hold on to that.

Sending you lots of hugs

I know what a cat's love can do when we are not feeling well. A few years we lost our Tipper to cancer. Tipper always knew when someone wasn't feeling well. I would find him snuggled up with one of the girls and discover that they had a fever, just coming down with a bug of some sort. He always knew. When I had my knees replaced he hardly left my side. We called him our nurse cat.

This is such a special bond. I know how much Megan is hurting right now. Time will heal the pain, but in the meantime we can give her our love and sympathy.

Big Hugs (((Megan)))

Please know how much we share your loss.

Thanks everyone. Reading all these posts really helps.
I'm not doing so well. I didn't think it was going to be quite this hard. I had the vet come to my house to put Mak down. He was still sleeping on my spot in my bed, so I just held him there and she put him down and left so I could be with him alone. I gotta say this is probably one of the worst things I've ever experienced, and doing it alone just pretty much sucked.
Glen was out of town at a meeting, and he had planned to come home, but I guess it ended up that he couldn't get out of the meeting, even after he had promised he wouldn't make me put Mak down alone. We had a big fight about 6 hours before I had to put Mak down, which resulted in Glen saying he "needs some time off from this relationship". Basically, I've just been a downer and miserable for the past year, so it wasn't really a shock. I just thought his timing wasn't so hot. Not what I wanted to be dealing with in my last few hours with Maki.
Turns out Glen wants to sell the condo too, so now I have no job, no school, no kitty, no boyfriend, no home, no doctors wanting to help, and no drug coverage. Wish I could run away.... lol

Thanks again for all the hugs. They are really appreciated right now.

You poor thing Megan Im so sad for you its really the pits and for Glen to do that when your going through so much and having to put poor Maki down. What a creep I hope he feels guilty. I think it would be better for you to go Home to your Mum and get the help and support you need there.

Lots of hugs and love to you I will be thinking of you.

Megan,

It's hard to know what to say - this is one of the worst situations I've come across since being a member of KA. You seriously need some help from someone and it sounds as though going to stay with your mom may be your best bet.

Is that practical?

Maybe you could start all over with new doctors etc. and get some better help.

I'm disappointed to hear how Glen has let you down, generally, and specifically about Maki.

Wish there was something I could do for you. hugss heart hugss

heart

you had suggested going home for awhile.

being around those who love you, letting them nurture you for awhile could be just what you need.

i know when the medical stuff gets really overwhelming, i would love to have someone help me navigate it. maybe your parents can do that for you, with you.

and so sorry about glen and the kitty at the same time.
that does really suck. he could have waited.
i know our illnesses are hard on those around us, but........

as for Maki, yes, i know, its always harder afterwards than we think its going to be. when spunky (our parrot before mookie) passed away, i cried what seemed like all the time, but we just kept talking about her, thinking about her, and slowly the pain got easier, and now we just remember the good times we shared. it does take awhile, but it does get easier.

just surround yourself with loved ones, if that means going home for awhile, then i think that sounds like a very nice idea. heart

i know its hard to imagine that things will get better, but i've been thinking back to a few times in my life when everything seemed like such a mess, more than i could handle, and i just couldn't see that things would ever get better. but each time i've come through those times, its made it a little easier to handle the next one. i just know things will turn around for you, somehow they just do. heart

better things

Awww Megan, I'm so sorry about Maki passing away and Glen letting you down too.

I'm at a loss for words and really don't know what I could say that would make anything better for you. I guess I can only send cyber hugs and my sympathy which seems so inadequate.

Love and hugs to you

I am so sorry. I just can't imagine anyone behaving the way that Glen did. What a cad. I agree about going home to Mom. I sure wish my Mom was still here to be with. I miss her so much. No one loves you as much as your Mom does.
