 BP says only 5,000 barrels a day are being spewed into the Gulf. Other people are now looking at it and while it's impossible to get a completely accurate measure, they're estimating between 50,000 and 70,000 barrels a day. It's mind blowing to try to imagine, and global ramifications will be felt, I have no doubt. It's destroying the deepest part of the food chain. This oil disaster is very serious.
Tragic. But I do believe they could mop up some of this stuff with hay from the fields. Hay will take the oil into it's inner stems, it can then be raked up commericially along the shores and burned as an energy source.
So many times we stop thinking, throw the baby out with the
______ ___________.
Oil and gas - not our enemy, but we must keep thinking....

Well, the oil has hit the shore...what a big mess...we've been doing what we can to keep it from getting too far up on our property but I'm not really sure what's going to happen with it...and then to boot, last night was our annual hurricane preparedness meeting and they said that if we get hit this yrear, that oil will be all over eveything in the whole city because the winds will be blowing it around and the tidal surge will bring it inland...I don't know what to think of all that, it's just so much to take in...
P.S. Thanks for the idea and all the encouragement, Lon...I really need it right now...I've fought so hard to keep my home, survived all of the hurricanes, rebuilt twice and now I may lose it anyway because of BP...I just can't believe it...

Michelle, I wanted to pop in here and see how you were doing this morning only to find the worst has happened. I can't immagine what it must be like to have to deal with this on your own property. I've been so angry and frustrated that I haven't watched the news in days. Then it hit me even harder when I realized, many of us can turn off the TV to get away from it, but you and your neigbors can't. I'm so tired of hearing about BPs safety record and nothing concrete to fix this disaster. God gave us this earth and all that is on it, to become good stewarts. I wonder what He must be thinking.
