If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Beloved, Dr. said I had a big bu_ _!!
Yea you heard me. I drove to Rapid City to get the report. I have D.I.S.H. on nearly every vertebrae. He had me try and bend forward. I explained that I was really stiff. I just about touched one knee.. .. He lifted up my shirt in back as I faced away from him and He said, see if you can bend backwards. Well it must not have been a pretty sight. Wow, he said; you have no movement in your joints, just a bit in your muscles. Yea, that is what DISH means, eh??? Then he said, He wanted to go in with a needle and remove some scar tissue, inject some concoction. I have a bulging disk, degenerative Arthur, stenosis –causing pressure, etc. , etc…… See, if he can’t get me feeling better. As I stood there and he is trying to tell me where he is going to shoot the stinking needle, trying to avoid scar tissue, not hit a nerve, not cause paralysis…….. this guy says, let me take a look, pulled my shirt up over my head (almost) he pulled my briefs down, to where the sun has only shined that one summer so long ago…. when… ah, well, he said “cripes, you have a big bu_ _ ,,, now I thought I heard a T, a big butt… but he kind of snorted; and said I will need a bigger needle cause you have scare tissue and I will have to come from under your tail bone up to L 4! My knees got weak, I couldn’t swallow…… I could see this needle the size of an exhaust pipe on a diesel truck going in under my tailbone up 4 vertebrae to the promised land! He said, Cripes you got a big butsch of scar tissue.. Some how I think my back side will be the brunt of some Dr. jokes in the future. The bigger needle story. …I thought I would share, the lighter side of my events. Tonto gave the Lone Ranger a bullet to bite on when he took the bullet out. I think I’m gonna want my mom ma!!!!! When they stick that longer needle in me. Two good friends died last week. One gal, Lin has known since college, died alone…
But life goes on. I would shoot the devil if I could; but I love all of you and I love this place! Lon

Oh Lon, that is so funny and also I know how much pain you are in. You always can make us laugh and I am sad at the same time. I am so sorry about your friends.
My brother-in-law was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer Monday and doesn't get to see the specialist until next Tuesday. It is a serious situation.
Hope your back gets better and they don't have to use that horse needle.
Hugs and Blessings to you and Lin. Possi

No he didn't! That was funny Lon! I am still amazed that they are saying you have DISH now after years of saying AS. I read up on it last time you posted about it. They certainly have similarities. Hope that needle helps you. I have never needed a needle like that. I guess I do not have err,.. scar tissue. Very sorry to hear about your friends, Lon. My condolences. Hugs, mig

Dear Lon, it might have been acceptable for that Dr to say you have "big AS" but what he did say deserved a witty comeback but you have manners and refrained from commenting... Hey, I've been reading up on archaeozoology and thought you might be interested in this blog because it mentions DISH as well as AS. You may share characteristics with the cave bear or Diplodocus...or what about Polacanthus foxi? Yea just tell that dr you're "foxi" http://archaeozoo.wordpress.com/2007/10/29/know-your-pathology-ankylosing-spondylitis/This condition is common in bulls, pigs and dogs, but is also seen in other species, if less often, and is a disease of some antiquity. It has been described in two crocodiles, one from Egypt and one from Cuba, dating to the Miocene and Pliocene periods respectively. Numerous other prehistoric animals have been described with spinal lesions similar to AS, including the dinosaurs Diplodocus and Polacanthus foxi, the cave bear Ursus spelaeus and the sabre-toothed tiger Smilodon californicus. The mummified remains of animals from Ancient Egypt also show evidence of this condition, whilst descriptions by the fifth century neurologist, Caelius Aurelianus, and Hippocrates also refer to afflictions that could well be AS in humans.
It is possible that many cases of AS in archaeological human populations are not being diagnosed because of the problem of differentiating between AS and Forestier’s disease (also known as Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, or DISH). However, several features can be used to distinguis the two from each other, and from rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. AS has significant erosions of the synovial and cartilaginous joints of the axial skeleton. PA, however, involves the synovial joints of the appendicular skeleton and the cartilaginous joints of the axial skeleton, whereas both promote erosion and repair of the entheses involved. Bony profileration and fusion with no osteoporosis characterises PA and AS, and in RA the cartilaginous joints may or may not be affected. Therefore, if a complete skeleton is available for analysis, it should be possible to differentiate these erosive arthropathies.

One of my co-worker's has a husband with DISH. He can't get his socks on and can barely bend forward at all. He's in a lot of pain. I think I'll ask her about his treatment, Lon, and share with you what she says.
I won't see her until next week because I'm just leaving for a long business trip (hours of driving) yeeeow! Won't be back until Saturday evening. But I'm taking my laptop so I may still check in to KA if I get a few minutes.
Going part way tonight so I can catch an early ferry to the mainland tomorrow morning.

Does this look/sound like you?? Polacanthus foxi is an ankylosaur which is not well known, due to the rarity and incompleteness of its remains. It was protected by thick bony plates embedded in its skin, a shield of fused plates covering its pelvis and numerous large spikes on its back and shoulders. http://www.dinosaurisle.com/polacanthus.aspx
