what could cause pain,prickles, and shudders in one upper thigh???

Trapped nerve probably or could be muscle spasms.

Could be a number of things just as the others have said but I have just started in like the last 5 or 6 months (thought I was going crazy) it felt like a bug bite i would look at it and nothing was there..no bite, no red it would happen over and over again in the same spot first the right leg by the ankle, then a place like the upper thigh and then a place in the back...really truly thought I was going crazy and I think my family did too I would run (ok I dont run..lol) but would go to them and be like hurry, hurry look something bit me and it hurts...never once was anything there so I mad an apt with my FD (family DR) I LOVE her she pressed in some places had me almost on the floor bawling and said two things probly the start fo some nerve damage and a horrid muscle in my back was completely seized (never heard of that) but she knew what she was talking about I got a script for Neurontin and a muscle relaxer Zanaflex and between the 2 as long as I am on them NOT A SINGLE time has it happened again.
Now that may or may not be an issue but it's worth a look at.
I hope you find out what is causing it.
