In order of importance, I miss sex. I miss golf. I miss drag racing. I miss skydiving. I miss flying high performance aircraft. I miss being able to play on the floor with my grandkids. I miss camping.

That's the short list. I won't depress everyone with the long one.

These were a few of my favorite things:

Sitting for more than 1/2 an hour
Driving
Hiking & walking with my friends
Digging & moving dirt around in my garden
Playing softball & volleyball
Crocheting & knitting
Writing letters with a pen instead of a computer

Wow. It IS a sad thread.

I miss:
--dating and the idea I could get married and have a family (5 years of suffering, I'm now 35 and still chronically ill)
--not having to worry about digestive failure ruling my life
--being able to eat without fear
--feeling clear headed and able to think
--having energy to go out at night with friends
--buying a house (too scared I might end up on disability and lose it)
--feeling like everyone else...not different...or set apart
--feeling healthy and stable

Those are my confessions. I'm starting a positive thread now..."Things you have gained from AS."

I miss doing things pain free.
Hell, I miss being pain free. I wonder if I ever was, actually.
I miss eating cake and other sweets without worrying about wheat content.
I miss having a choice about exercise, if you know what I mean.

Good question.

Hugs,

Kat

I miss as Loz and Jeanna said just being comfortable in a normal setting.

I missed for so long the feeling of what is was like to run. I used to have dreams where I would run and felt so great the next day. Then I guess because the actuall sensation was gone I lost the ability to slip into that dream.

I know its childish but I loved throwing a baseball. I miss longtossing curveaballs to a friend or my borthers. At 47 I probably would be able to do it any more anyway but I miss it.

I miss being able to rough house and get hurt or bumped and bruised likenormall folk.

I miss being comfortable during a whole outing. I miss being spontaneous. I miss shopping without it feeling more like a chore, and a painful one at that.

i miss swinging my children in the air in circles like a mad-bug! heart Gianna my 16yr old was the only one that was able to enjoy this. my other 2 were thrilled with endless hugs and tickles though. they were much bigger babies so it was difficult.

other than that..thats about it. i've tried to work around everything else. but my kiddos...thats the real fun stuff i enjoy. good post. rainbowbuggy

Hi,
Here are some of the things I miss.

Looking up, forward and behind.
Laying on my stomach.
Wrestling.
Offroading on a motorcycle.
Riding bicycles.
Going places without running into people (literally)
Not getting embarrassed easily.
Working.
Driving.
Not having to go to youtube to see an airplane flying.

Take care,
James
