If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

ive thought about that too donette. it just doesnt make sense that we eat something offensive and notice fairly quickly but yet eliminate the offenders and take days/weeks/months to recover. thats the part i just dont get.
Anyway... your birthday eatings sound delicious. prime rib!! mouth watered reading that.. oh and the sugar free ice cream w/ fake choc... *sighs* is that starch free? whered you get it? whats it called? is it good? who cares if its good, i just want it!!! lol well im glad you had a great day. Happy Birthday.. again :]

Hi Tink!
I think it is great you posted this. Here are my feelings about this topic in general. Let's take the shame out. Every time we go off the NSD, we learn something new about ourselves.
Secondly, I have learned that the complex carbohydrates found in grains and root vegetables help women, especially, have balanced levels of serotonin in their brains. What is one (of the many!) things serotonin helps with? Cravings!
So, if anyone here finds her or himself having symptoms of low serotonin, and craving sugar or carbs found in grains, and having difficulty following the NSD, then it is very understandable. Taking that guilt or shame out of the whole picture might be a useful thing for us. : )
There are ways to increase, gently and naturally, levels of serotonin in our brains so that we feel more steady and balanced. Meditation, prayer, walking, playing with a pet...so many things help!
I've learned this from Kathleen DesMaisons, who has studied this a great deal, and I thought it might be helpful information to those of us here on the NSD.
Tink, I hope your symptoms abate very quickly and thank you for sharing your *confessions* and I hope anyone can feel able to do so--to get support and encouragement. : )
Happy coconut pancakes to everyone! : )
Jan

Thanks so much Naj What an encouraging and insightful take on the situation. I really appreciate that I didn't know those things about women's brain function and serotonin - but that could go some way to explaining my terrible mood swings, irritabliity and foggy brain when on the diet long term. Take care

The thing about serotonin has crossed my mind before.... there is a reason for starchy comfort food. But, I hadn't really considered of ways of increasing it without starch. Thanks for sharing, Naj.

It has been 2 days since my last confession... and I am pleased to report that I have NOTHING to confess!! Thanks so much, guys, for supporting and sharing on this thread, it has helped me more than you can imagine. I have been to a BBQ (Friday) and dinner party (Saturday) and managed without difficulty to turn down any starch that was available - I couldn't have done that a few days ago. Love you guys
