If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi, over the course of the last year, and as this seems to be progressing, I have had all the too familiar symptoms. But for the last 2 days, my left flank feels really tight and sore. I fasted today to try to bring it down, but just seems to be getting worse. Funny though, my knees feel great today, after about 30 hours of no food. It's just this side that's disturbing me. Anyone else out there have bad flank pain? Guess I need to hear if I'm the only one on this island. Thank you , God Bless

Yeah, I have had flank pain. I was initially concerned that I had some kidney pain. I am satisified now that it was muscular pain. It is a difficult area to stretch though. I didn't do any stretches or anything.

Yep...I get this too. A mere wrinkle in the bedsheet under my side feels like a loaf of french bread under there. Very uncomfortable to sleep. I turn like a hotdog on a spit all night. Right side, left side, right side, left side. Sometimes stop on my back for a few in between when I can.
Suddenly I'm hungry. lol Hope it feels better soon for you!
Cheers,
Steph

I assume you have checked that it isn't coming from kidneys as the result of a urinary tract infection? (cloudy or smelly urine, or raised temperature).
I get really awful pain over hip bones and that is what keeps me from being comfortable during the night.

I had a blood test for kidney function. I also had a prior but recent abdominal and pelvic CT scan and abdominal/low back x-rays. Everything was clear and my rheumatologist said that based on that she isn't concerned about kidney issues. I also lacked any urinary symptoms.

I have suffered from kidney stones for many years. Passing stones upto 8mm this is extreamly painful. I have also had bouts with flank pain. If you were suffering from kidney stones and assuming you have never had them before they will come with some illness similar to flu feelings and intense flank, abdominal or groin pain depending on where the stone has made its initial push. Although, i am no doctor, I can only talk from my experience. Don't ever assume that it shouldn't be taken seriously no matter what the pain, discomfort or illness level is. the body can do some strange things some of the most severe pains can be nothing more then muscles while some of the least could be much worse.

I've had pain in my kidney (flank) area for years. Mine was not muscular though. I recently discovered mine was due to a problematic food group (nightshade veggies). Completely ceasing consumption of these, like I should have a long, long time ago, has eliminated the overwhelming majority of that pain. One other consideration, if not mentioned, is that it could be some sort of adrenal stress or adrenal related problem.
Kind Regards, Jay

This may be a dumb question, but what are nightshade veggies?
Cheers,

Tomatoes, potatos, green/red/orange/yellow peppers (but not black), eggplant.
Usually (but not always) these foods are known for having an effect on people with Rheumatoid, rather than those with AS. But hey, if it helps, do it, right?
