If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi guys,
I would need your help/opinion please. As I am back on NSD, I'm testing everything with iodine, to be on the safe side. Yesterday I tested my spiced herbal infusion teas (the contain ginger, cinammon and the likes), anitcipating that the iodine would turn black, which it did. Then I tested a fruit infusion with no spices, it turned black too, which surprised me a little.
Today, out of curiosity I also tested my English Breakfast tea with milk. And that turned black too. Now that beats me, why would that turn black? There can't be any starch in there. Anything to do with the tea bags maybe?
I'd appreciate your input, especially as I don't want to give up my black tea if possible.
Thanks!

Possibly the T'bags. Try with full leaf tea. T'bags are nasty, with their bleached out 'bags' and the tea inside the bags are what is known/called 'sweepings'. That is, the tiny bits left from gathering up the full leaf. So all these tiny bit are swept (not literally with a broom...'smile') but 'gathered' up, crushed up further then filled into bags.
So, try with real full leaf. and organic IF you can find. As tea bushes are sprayed against all sorts on a weakly basis - they get dosed with anti this an that, and the leaf is not washed before procesing. So one gets the full dose of insecticides. Ho-Hum.

Hi,
thanks a lot for your great explanation. I'll see if I can get organic tea, shouldn't be a problem. I tend to go for organic as much a I can anyway (I have a small daughter, so this is important to me), so I'll make a little trip to my organic supermarket tomorrow.

Well, got the organinc tea (darjeeling) leaves today, made tea, tested it and again, when the iodine hits the liquid it turns black. Very odd.
Now what I wonder is, how much of that starch would be digested at all? Any ideas anyone?
Thanks a lot!

I drink organic Rooboos tea, or red bush as some call it. A little different at first but I like it. ETTE. Darrel.

id guess not much starch at all would be getting into your bowel from a liquid like tea. in carol sinclairs book she suggests drinking a few beers is ok on her low starch diet. something to do with body absorbing it before it gets to bowel and can be used as klebsiella food or something along those lines.

Eooboos - That's a nice tea. I use it a lot in my 'mix' - love making up new mixes. Gives a nice background full flavour.

Chpritz, .Don't test tea. This is too much. I never used iodine and Kicked AS quite well. If you are working hard you are doing something wrong. Ike

Hi guys, thanks for all the input.
I know Redbush und quite like it, but I do need a bit of a kick in the morning, so I will stick to my one cup of black tea in the morning.
@ike: I'm testing everything at the moment, as I have been off the diet for more than 3 yrs (pregnancy hormones can be a wonderful thing) and didn't get it quite right before, so I'm trying to get it right this time. Also because I'm more kicking Iritis at the moment than AS and I'm a lot more scared of Iritis than AS.

Iritis is the worst. I can see why you are working very hard. I only had a short two week bout with iritis. Very scary! I had been mostly pain free and was a little careless with my diet and one day I woke up with a good idea of what Dracula must feel like in the morning. Wearing the sunglasses all the time was so strange.
Your fine tuning diet looks very good to me. I use to go to anti-biotics when AS would get the best of me too. I would not hesitate to use them. When I am fighting AS I am very aware of elimination as much as eating. Time allows exponential multiplication of offensive bacteria and bacterial wastes. If you do use anti-biotics, try to foster the regrowth of beneficial intestinal fauna at the same time as they are also casualities in the battle.
