A few days before Christmas hubby took me to the er. I was having pain in my low back and odd warming sensations on the top of my left foot. The dr told me I had a pinched nerve and recomended I get into physical therapy as soon as possible and follow up with my Rhuemy.

My Rhuemy didn't see any reason to see me, (he is about 100 miles away from were I live) he just faxed over orders for pt for me. Since I'm on medicare with medicade I can no go to pt in our town, so I went to a new place for pt. They had me doing about 4 exersises and electrice stim on my back. After starting PT the warming sensation changed it goes from my left heel to my right heel. I told the therapist, but he really didn't give me any reason or idea what was going on. I came down with a sinus infection and have not been back to therapy in going on two weeks.

The warming sensation is not as frequent anymore, but I am having alot of pain when I move my right leg. I can be sitting with both feet on the floor and raise my right leg like I would be putting it on the break pedal and I get pain from my hip/grown area down my leg all the way to my foot. Anyone have any ideas what this might be? It's driving me nuts. I asked my pt when I last saw him and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked a way. Errr... Any ideas or suggestion greatly appreciated.

Kim

PS anyone have any idea's why I can't get on logged on on this site on my lap top. The page errors out on me. but I can get in fine on my desk top.

wonder if its the SI, as it sounds like sciatica.

i've had a lot of PT over the years. the first one i went to made me worse and when i told her and she argued with me that that wasn't possible, i didn't go back. was really lucky that the next one understood what was going on with me so well and was able to help me so completely. i was with her and then another for about 3.5 years total, but between the two of them, they really helped. simply put, they had a lot of tools in their tool box and it didn't seem to be a "one size fits all" approach, instead they modified things to how i responded.

then i moved. that was in 2003. i've been to PT up here from time to time but with much less results. but finally this past fall, found a chiro that does much of the same soft tissue work that i've missed so much since moving back in 2003.

my advice to you is that if this PT doesn't seem to be helping you and can't explain what is going on, see if you can find another PT, someone who calls themselves a "manual PT".

don't know what's happening with your two computers, sorry.

Hi,
the injections I had 2 months ago helped a lot with pain like that. Physical therapy made it much worse. My trouble among others is the facets on both side of 4 vertebrae. The wamr, wet sensation turned into horrible pain that nearly ruined my life. Now it is creeping back in..
do you have arthur???
as well as AS? bulging disk also gives the warm tingling feleing before the full blown terrible pain.
good luck

Ah - computers. From friend's experiences (frequent) turned out - each time - that their laptop needed reprogramming nto the mian computer. Am having similar problems with my computer - big bore. So will have to have the PC man call on by and fix. More expense (as am totally computer illerate).

As for pain from groin to ankle could be sciatica or startng with SIs then creeping into sciatic nerve impingement. Not a physio - but am surprised that yr PT just 'shrugged' and walked away.

Hope you can sort soonest. At least yr rheumy is in fax contact with you, so would ask your rheumy what might be going on. (Sounds darn UNcomfortabl)

One thing that helps my sciatica is to sit on my bed and do a hurdle stretch with the non-stretching leg foot on floor. If i remember to do this in am, and a time or two throughout the day it really helps. My PT taught me this. I hope you get feeling better soon.

oh yes, now that donette mentions it, stretching helps my sciatica more than almost anything.

Thanks for that tip Donette - having had a vile night. Both SIs playing up, left side rib cage then...dada...pain, flush of pain 'from' right SI down back of leg and into...achilles heel. Lubly-jubly. Just taken a pain med as am out driving pony this morning. Going to have a hot shower, when the bathroom has heated up some (no C/H in the house, electric rads).

There ya go Pianoplayer - much like as you reported! Mine is definitely SIs - feel the two points burning away, then the flush of pain (about a 3) down the back of the leg, to the achilles in right ankle (about a 4). But *no pain on top of foot. Waking to get going this mornng was diff, climbing the stairs was...well, did it. Not without some grunting!

What a vile night. But will pass. 'Smile'.

I've been just dealing with the pain for the past week and it has been killing me. It's getting worce. I've tried my tens unit, lodicane pain patches, vicodin, cyclobensapine and mobic. The only thing that seems to give me in relief is ice. It's to the point right now that I have to have my husbad help me get dressed and get up off the sofa or out of bed. The only time I can really handle the pain is if I'm laying straight on my back or on my stumack. I wanted hubby to take me to the ER this morning but he said he is sick of going with me to the Er, that two trips since Thanksgiving is enough for him. That he doesn't get any satifaction taking me to the dr. I made an appointment with my family dr for tomorrow morning. Drivig is going to be fun, but I have no choice with how the pain is.

Do you have a friend or neighbor who could drive you? Someone from your church. I get calls every once in a while from our church because someone needs a ride and the know I am usually free to drive.

What a situation to be in - horrible. As Donna suggests, friend, neighbour, someone from the church? Or have come across medical practices where there is transport assistance by way of volunteer drivers, who will take patients to medical and hospital appointments - any such service available to you? (I used such myself for 9 months when unable to drive due to appalling shoulder surgery - couldn't change gear, impossible). Perhaps if you asked your doctor? He just might know of someone?

I do so hope that you can find assistance. And aso hope that your Dr can find a speedy solution to this pain. Go carefully -
