http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/01/110128095049.htm

ScienceDaily (Jan. 27, 2011) — "Australian researchers have come one step closer to understanding how the rhythm of the heartbeat is controlled and why many common drugs, including some antibiotics, antihistamines and anti-psychotics, can cause a potentially fatal abnormal heart rhythm

"It is estimated around 40-50% of all drugs in development will block one of the main 'channels' that carries electricity in the heart and, as a result, can cause heart rhythm problems called cardiac arrhythmias. Most sudden cardiac deaths are caused by cardiac arrhythmias"

Since 1996, nine drugs have been withdrawn from the market or had their use severely restricted due to this serious side effect."

(snip...) "The biggest benefit of this research is that it should allow the better design of drugs so they no longer block these important electrical channels in the heart," added Professor Vandenberg. "In time, this should allow patients the freedom and peace of mind to take their medication without the fear of their heart suddenly stopping."

I was looking for the 9 specific drugs mentioned in the articcle? Do you know which ones they are?
Thank you.

Diet change has improved my RA. I feel best eating raw veggies and some fruits and avoiding grains, sugars, nightshades, beans and dairy. Sed rate dropped from 65 to 19, but it took over a year.

9 'specific drugs' linked to irregular heart beats? No, don't know off hand but will look t up. Not tonight thoughh, as getting dark'ish and computer in the evening is hopeless for me!

Do know that Clonazepam (name in Fr. Rivotril) does this to me - was give to help sleep due to tinnitus - clanging bells and fizzing/fuzzing diff to sleep with! - but refuse now to take it! Caused me horrible abnormal heart rhythms. Didn't realise it 'was' the Rivotril until I checked it out! (Doppy me...)

Wll check out the '9' for you though.

Have not found/come across the '9' drugs - back to article and only the following: "It is estimated around 40-50% of all drugs in development will block one of the main 'channels' that carries electricity in the heart and, as a result, can cause heart rhythm problems called cardiac arrhythmias. Most sudden cardiac deaths are caused by cardiac arrhythmias.

Since 1996, nine drugs have been withdrawn from the market or had their use severely restricted due to this serious side effect." from the posted article, which info I have already posted.

Put in a search criteria and not coming up with 'the' answer i.e. '9 drugs'. But since the article mentions thaht '9 were withdrawn' perhaps the answer lies therein? Already withdrawn. Know that Arcoxia is under review in Fr for withdrawal. My GP RX that for me, I gave it back to him! The Cox-2s, one of those was withdrawn (forget name for moment) but a famous case, many deaths attributed to it. Best bet would be to search by names of actual drugs, check IF heart problems ARE a side effect, and IF so, don' take...

OK gotta run. Vroom --->> --->>

(Not doing any more - eyes are hopeless. Cannot see properly. Anyways, you get the gist. Easy to put in a criteria. IF you don't get the right criteria then change it and keep going with word interchange until you come up with the 'right' criteria to give you the answers. Good fun - takes time and patience and good eyesight! This last I don't have at the moment).)
