Got the results of the recent x-rays on my shoulders. Looks as though I've managed to avoid any erosion or damage to the shoulder joints so far but I have got notable calcification of the tendons. My CRP hasn't gone down far enough that my doctor thinks the calcification will reverse at least for now, but that helps to explain the ongoing shoulder pain despite the improvement in the rest of my symptoms.

Wendy,
Yep, that seems to be what DISH is doing to me.
Is yours the arthuritis?

I feed my grandaughter green beans and squash yesterday! 7 mo.
She loves it and I love feeding her. But the stink pot does spit when I don't feed her fast enough..

Yes, Lon - it's the arthritis. The doc says the primary cause would have been the months and months I had with such ridiculously high levels of inflammation - my CRP was over 100 at the worst and it was like that for a long time. He described the calcification process to me.

It does help to explain why the methotrexate has helped my hips, feet, hands and wrists fairly well but not my shoulders.

Wendy my friend,
This new new Dr. is checking again for RA. in my case. I told him my levels are always within tolerance, but I have been diagnosed RA until the blood test gets back....
I am finally able to walk 50 minutes again.
So I hope to go in to the winter in much better shape. I have even been walking against the current in the Rec. center here in town!

Thanks .....
3 days 40 minutes plus two extra 20 minutes at the pool.

Lon - I hope that the docs can come up with a good treatment as well as a diagnosis. Great news that you are able to walk a bit more.

Wendy,
Thank you. Taking the time to get up to 70 minutes is what worked for me 12 years ago... but as you know, the pain can be excruciating.
I hope that you are enjoying each day and that you are looking forward to a bright future.

I am managing to walk or go to the gym most days, Lon. I think that is really helping but so is my medication.

Hi Callum,

Welcome to KA. Were your shoulder operations a result of RA?

I'm sure there are several possible reasons for the pain and your doctor may be able to suggest some of them.

My RA particularly affected my shoulders and the pain typically radiated down my arm - however, there is no evidence of tendon calcification.

I'm sorry to hear that your pain is ongoing.
