If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Ok I know that alcohol is terrible with those who suffer badly from AS. Buuuut everyone likes a nice social drink or "Escape" every now and then!?!
Is there any kind that would do lesser damage as far as the inflamation is concerned or are they all equal in side effects..
Ive read some things on gluten free wines and such.. Wonder if that makes a difference?

I don't know who is suffering by using alcohol,b ut I stick to light lager beers and have had no problem. In Fact, the morning after a few beers my SI joint is almost pain free and my back is usually less stiff. I've documented this several times in my food/pain journal and am convinced it doesn't have a big effect on me. Let me say, I think red-wines may give me a problem because of the acidity but I'm not sure testing that yet. Whiskey and a diet coke don't seem to bother me too much either. I have had problems with realy Wheaty and thick craft beers. May be the yeast to blame.

I didnt say it made anyone suffer... I know its destructive to Bone which will then increase chances of breaking bones and it also has starch thus raising inflamation...
I know I personally wake up in un-godly pain when I have a few too many.. Not sure if it has more to do with the alcohol or the fact that I fall asleep in awkard positions..

Alcohol has never bothered me. I drink Bourbon and wine - red and white wines. Have as and when I want. Usually every night a glass or two. No probs so far. :))

Alcohol never bothers me either...I do enjoy my vodka/club sodas and white wines. Seems that red wines, some beers, and dark liquor make me feel stiff. But the NSD is key for me. Only problem is I've lost 30 lbs (which was needed and welcome) and I'm still getting used to being a light weight....as you can image I've had several nights since losing the weight and not having starches to soak up alcohol where I've had to learn the hard way.
However, everyone is very different and AS is a very "individual" type of disorder of the immune system. The stomach is one of the main immune systems in our body. Everyone digests things in different ways. All you can do is trial and error everything and see how it goes. Good luck!

There is actually quite a bit of info on the internet about the effects of Chardonay wine and it's ability to kill klebsiella - it has to do with the type of fermentation it goes through. I personally stick to wine these days when I do enjoy a drink, at the very least wine seems to have the most benefits for the body or any alcohol I know of.
I'm now a KICK AS (and Kick IBD) success story!! After going low starch Paleo to heal my gut, I can now eat nearly all starches, grains & foods without inflammation, flare-ups, or pain. I used a modified SCD diet approach (minus dairy! plus cacao ♥). Cheers to healing & thriving again! I blog at http://www.forestandfauna.com/about/

Sometimes if I over indulge it will kick my AS in - my sacroiliacs will start aching either within an hour or two, or the next day. Othertimes I have no problems. I think it just depends on how AS is going at the time. it does actually seem to help another autoimmune thing I have going on. Strangely.
