If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Wendy, here's a hug (((((hug))))) and also your name in green before clicking to open the post, almost gives me an epileptic seizure. I'm not an epileptic, but that particular color green tickles the inside of my brain, go figure Your injury sounds really really painful, and luckily your doctor sounds like a great guy! -With a professional like that, you just know you'll be taken care of the right way. Fingers crossed for as light an injury as possible and a quick recovery. We certainly have enough on our hands, we don't need hits like that! Love gilth

Awe Wendy...that sounds awful... A very close friend of my had a labral tear last year and it has given her a tough time, I'm really sorry that it happened during such a busy time, with your residency (btw...so proud of you! ) I know you're a tough one, my friend, but please take it easy and don't over-do...as much as possible, anyway! Big hugs, much love & prayers for a speedy recovery, my dear friend... Michelle

Wendy how is your hip doing? Hope the doctor can give you something for the pain. Makaylah, and I send lots of kisses, and hugs in hope that will help.

Thank you all for your good wishes.
I went for the X-ray yesterday but didn't learn anything. They were so busy there that they wouldn't take even a minute to tell me if they could see anything. Have to wait 3-5 days for my doc to get the results.
It's a weird injury as the pain levels go up and down - sometimes it's so bad I don't know what to do with my leg but other times I can walk carefully without too much pain. It's definitely better when I don't use it - the absolute opposite of RA and inflammatory diseases - I suspect I may be forced off it entirely for a period while it heals. If that's what it needs and I can avoid surgery, I will be relieved.

Wendy - It's not a bursitis is it? Bursitis can be utterly horrible - had one once, R.hip. Lasted months: at its worst was house-bound for several weeks. Residual pain lasted for c.6 months.
Pray your doctors get to a DDx quickly.
Many (((HUGS)))

Sounds as if it may well be a labral tear....definitely won't show up on plain XR. If you rest it and it feels better, then at other times is variable, you may have a cartilaginous lip moving in and out of the joint space - when it is impinged it hurts like heLL but at other times is a low level ache - needs an MRI if it doesn't settle REALLY SOON. If it was a small tear then it should be 'in place'...a larger tear will give this sort of variable grief as it is tethered on one end and can act as a bit if a 'free floater' as you move. Hope when you read this that you are loads better and you don't need to go down the MRI and surgical repair path, Wendy.

Your description nails it, Louise. I rest it and it improves. First thing in the morning it's at its best - the complete opposite of RA. If I use it much, then WOW it gets very severe so I have to stop and breathe whoooooooo!
And yet oddly, before the last 10 days when it's been wicked, it was quite variable with days when it hardly bothered me.
What do you think are the chances that it is getting worse - i.e. more damage through use?
I picked up some crutches today but forgot that the last time I used them (for four months when I broke my leg) I didn't have shoulders damaged by RA. So not sure whether crutches will be an option!

Not quite sure what kind of crutches you have picked up, but there are a huge variety of types now, and some much easier to use if you have problems with hands or arms. I'm thinking of one type that is a combination of underarm and forearm crutch (underarm support, but hand grip in a similar position to a standard forearm crutch), but also the ones where your forearm is outstretched (i.e. elbow at approximate right angles) so you take the pressure along your whole forearm rather than wrist or shoulder.
Hope things come right quickly though. I know how difficult it is when you need walking aids like crutches but can't manage them because of arm problems.

Haven't peeked in too often. SOrry to see you took a spill causing you this pain. Hope Doc gets to read your x-ray soon. (Seems a long delay from x-ray to result being conveyed) Hope mostly that diagnosis is just some rest and you quickly back to moving about "new" pain free.
