If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Guys, I haven't posted in some time. I am having pain in my groins when I lift my legs to put on or take off my jeans or pants etc. Is this the start of hip pain?

Yes, Janet. My early hip pain was on the outside - my bursae were inflamed. When I began to experience pain deep in my groin, it was the start of the erosion of the hip joints. I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing this. I am just recovering from my first hip replacement.

It could also be a cyst. I get an ovarian cyst on occasion which also creates groin pains for a week or two when they come on. I have never gone to the trouble to have them removed, as they come and go and are benign in many women. I happen to be feeling one this week, and only experience them once or twice a year, but definitely feel it in the groin, and it is a different pain than AS related hip/pelvis pain for me. http://www.livestrong.com/article/391477-acute-pain-during-leg-raises-ovarian-cysts/http://ovariancystpainremedies.org/ovarian-cyst-groin-pain/
I'm now a KICK AS (and Kick IBD) success story!! After going low starch Paleo to heal my gut, I can now eat nearly all starches, grains & foods without inflammation, flare-ups, or pain. I used a modified SCD diet approach (minus dairy! plus cacao ♥). Cheers to healing & thriving again! I blog at http://www.forestandfauna.com/about/

Nonpitting edema gave me pain there, but mainly after not moving around for awhile, when I'd first start to take a few steps. After getting moving, it subsided somewhat.
This was when I first learned what non pitting edema was and that the vioxx was causing it. Stopped the vioxx and the groin pain along with the foot pain disappeared.

I have the same exact thing! It is getting worse and worse. It started about a month ago. I have a very hard time walking. Especially in the long halls at work- I am a substitute teacher, on my feet most of the day in Kindergarten. My rheumatologist has ordered a cortisone shot in my S-1 joint on the side that is worse. I was thinking it was my S-1 from research I have done, didn't even think about my hips.
On Naproxen RX strength, 2X/day, was on Humira, then Enbrel, and my rheumatologist just took me off of Enbrel saying it's not making enough of a difference to warrant the side effects. VERY DISCOURAGED =(

I have a lot of groin pain and also the pain on the outside. I have been trying to ignore it. Wendy, good to see you posting.

Yes, Janet. My early hip pain was on the outside - my bursae were inflamed. When I began to experience pain deep in my groin, it was the start of the erosion of the hip joints. This is a lot how my SI pain felt... I will add when at its worst it felt like someone took my SI out of the joint and jammed it back in there incorrectly and I had a cloud of inflammation to live with that radiated all around the joint. I would nearly collapse on the right leg at times pain was so unbearable. In mornings had to try and roll out of bed and crawl to shower and turn on hot water from my knees to eventually make it feel better at times. I found steps and sleeping on that hip made it much worse... also the wrong kind of chair. I do not miss those days. Tim

Hi
It is on both sides, and it isn't a cyst or pitting edema. I do know it is a concern. I am glad your doing well Wendy. I think down the road it will be hip replacements for me. I do ok just can't get the darn jeans on. It doesn't help that I have gained weight from meds I take
Take Care, Janet

Janet, before I read these responses, I would have jumped to the hips. Now, I'm not so sure. Not sure what to say I hope it is, but I hope it isn't too horrid.
Love and warm hugs,

Can I ask you when it hurts most, least? Things that make it better? worse?
I see that you said it wasn't pitting edema? have you ruled out nonpitting edema? I rarely had pitting edema, and the nonpitting edema was very insidious.
