Hi all,

After no response to Humira and Prednisone, I am starting Remicade (Inflectra - generic) next week. I'm wondering if anyone has tried Remicade after failing to response to Humira?
What did you experience? Any sides, benefits?

Thank you!

Hi psr,

I don't have experience with anything but Remicade - it's worked so well for me (10+ yrs) that I haven't needed to try any other biologic. Remicade has me in as near a state of remission as I could probably ever hope for!

I am very curious to hear how well you do on the generic version.

Good luck - I hope it works wonders for you!!

I have had my third infusion of remicade.

I have not notice any difference so far.

Hi Lon,

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't noticed any benefit yet from Remicade. When I read that you had started it, I thought to myself - yay for you!

I am always WISHING it works for everyone else as well as it does for me. I could literally feel the pain turning down a notch each day, like you would dial the heat down on your stove.

It doesn't work as quickly for everyone... so I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you that it will start to show signs of helping very soon!

You have had to endure a lot of pain and like all of our lovely kickers, you deserve some real relief from it.

I also read about your wife's struggle, Lon. That must be so hard for you both. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. You are always offering a shoulder or ear to everyone here... I am a good listener if you ever need.

This is amazing. Thank you for your reply. I am now on week 2 - my next infusion in coming up on Monday. So far I haven't noticed any benefits, but remaining positive. How soon did you start noticing relief?

I struggle from severe plantar fasciitis and chronic lower back pain btw.

thx!

I was also wondering if anyone takes other anti inflammatory meds while taking Remicade or Humira?

Hi psr,

In my case, I starting noticing an obvious decrease in pain on the 4th day after my first infusion, although how long it takes does seem to vary a lot between individuals.

Since I was on an anti-inflammatory plus SSZ at the time I started Remicade, I kept taking those for quite a long time in combination before slowly going off them (one at a time). I very very rarely need to take an NSAID now. It's probably been 5 or 6 months since I've taken a pill of any kind.

You will need to see how it goes, and then will know by how you feel and can make decisions that suit your situation along the way.

Good luck!

Thanks mig!! That's so great to hear you haven't had to worry about NSAIDs since taking remicade. Has the effectiveness lasted steadily?!

Mig- thanks.
I am wondering if the remicade is causing my joints to swell and I am really short of breath.
no relief from the pain, yet.

Yes, the effectiveness has lasted amazingly well... all these years. How is it going for you - have you noticed any signs of improvement yet?
