Hi, since the beginning of the year I have got back into road cycling (70-150Km per ride) and endurance exercises. Which has really helped with keeping my AS under control along side controlling my diet with a low starch diet.

Most of my follow cyclists will consume energy bars or gels, a bottle of sports drink/powered mix and/or a banana to keep their energy levels up. But being on a low starch diet I'm sure that 90% or even all of the above contain a form of starch. Therefore I have never bought/tired any and suffer from fatigue towards the end of long rides.

Can I ask if anyone has found energy products without starch in them or use other foods for energy intake during and post endurance exercises?

Thanks

Steve

Wow, I don't know. I drink gatorade and eat cashews & apples, but I'm not on the N/LSD. Let us know what you find out!

Hey Scuba,

Why dont you look at making your own with figs, almonds, and honey using pure ingrediets. Blend them and play with the ratios till you find the taste younlike you like. You could dehydrate them or super low bake to make like a energy bar.

Also how but dried or dehydrated fruit like pineapple, or mango or make a mixed berrie puree and dehyrdrate or super low bake.

You got to be creative and experimental as most package crap is processd with sulphites and cheap refined sugars. If you dont wan to make look to your natural health store, they may have something.

Steve- years ago we never thought about snacking between events or meals. mainl7y because we did not have the money. Being tired from a work out is normal and good for you. You will bet so that you can go 4 hours without food.
I know others will disagree, but a big drink of fresh cold water can / will revive a person who is in shape.

Keep at it my friend!
