Marion I am really thinking that is what is happening. Because after 11 days of having terrible cold being in complete remission, I'm almost over my cold and having pains in my back again. The timing is just too much of a coincidence.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

That said, I'm back to trying to figure out a diet that will work for my AS, UC, and gut bloating.

Thanks Tim. I really appreciate your consistent thoughtful answers. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet on diet although it is very frustrating.

I've never had a colonic. Interesting, never even thought about it!

Hi Didier,
I've had the same experience: whenever I had a serious cold, there was zero backpain... I thought I was fooling myself, but it's true. The immunesystem seems to be busy doing something else. Didn't bother me. I slept like a baby during those days...
By the way: I'm on a no/very low starch diet. It seems to work for me. The only thing bothering me now is one inflamed finger (due to cold weather here in Holland)...can't seem to get rid of that...
I wish you succes and health, Almond

Diagnosed with Spondyloartritis in 2011. HLA B-27 positive. Started no starch diet in the end of 2011. Been (almost) without medication since that moment. I was a sceptic. I'm a believer now: 'let food be thy medicine'. For Dutch readers: read my story on: http://almondfigtree.wordpress.com/

When I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia around 1993 I began following UseNet news groups like alt.med.fibromyalgia. People normally said that when they catch a cold that they feel much worse. For me when I caught a cold my inflammation and "feeling wired and tired" was lowered. Finally around 2015 when I began Googling symptoms I came across KickAS and saw that people on KickAS reported my experience of feeling better when having a cold.

I have had about three viruses since 2018 -- three "colds" in six years. I attribute that to megadoses of vitamin D3. In March of 2020 I had a strange "cold" that didn't evolve from a runny nose to a sore throat then chest congestion as usual. Instead I only had a runny nose then a mild and brief sore throat. I never developed any lung congestion but felt a little short of breath. I ended up getting nauseous on a couple of days and threw up once. I think that it was a weak case of covid-19. I regularly shop at a Chinese grocer. At the time there must have been people returning from China to my city. I've met people from Wuhan at the grocery store. It even was shut down for a day to sterilize surfaces because the grocery store had a covid-19 outbreak among its staff. At the time I was taking zinc and quercetin in order to improve tight-junctions in my gut and heal the gut. What I had at that time was not a cold. I never went for covid testing but I suspect that it was covid and the symptoms were minor because of the quercetin, zinc and vitamin D3. Practically the famous Z-Pac. What a coincidence!
