Deidre,

Welcome to KickAS!! The place for AS info and support, fun and friendship. It took 27 years for me to be diagnosed, and it would never have happened without the information I got here at KickAS. The more I learn, the more I realize how much more there is to learn.

Feel free to come here with your questions. Somebody surely has the answers. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hugs,

Cindy

Hello and Welcome,

I think you'll find there is lots of info here. In fact I've always thught there is lots of info about AS just none of it too conclusive about what to do live nrormally with it. Although I've read lots of books that say simply sleep flat on your back, take some NSAID's and exercise and all will be well. Funny books.

As for me I'm twisted and bent but still truckin'. Ain't given up my golf. Do most of what I did before just not as fast or as well, not that I ever did anything all that well to begin with.

Hi Deidre

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

You know, I think that the biggest benefit of being here among friends is not only the information so much as the support which is hard to come anywhere else.

Take Care

Maggie

Hi, Deidre, and welcome to KickAS! Not only is there not a lot of information on AS - - you really have to hunt it down - - but so much of the information is misinformation - - such as AS is a man's disease. That notion makes for a difficult DX for most women, as we can go years with all the pain from the inflammatory process yet with no radiological changes. I was fortunate, I guess, in that I was DXed with RA about 25 years ago so at least my pain was taken seriously and not dismissed as so often happens. Still have a dual DX, helpful in talking the insurance company into allowing the pricey meds I'm on You'll find lots of information right here, post any question and someone here is bound to be able to answer it.

Welcome Deidre!
Nice to have another 39 yo F with us! I think there's a few of us around here turning 40 this year... Steve..?
(Just thought the other day about that and for the first time it didn't shock me... 'cause I feel 80!)
I was diagnosed in January after having neck and shoulder pain that wouldn't relent for about a year and a half, nagging neck pains for 5-6 years prior to that, chronic knee problems that my rheumy says are somehow related since age 6. I feel very lucky to have not suffered as much as some here. But hoping the docs can give me something to "knock this stuff out"... HA HA HA
Anyway, welcome !
Darla
