Hi folks.....
Just wanted to ask how many have had heel pain....and specifically how long and symptoms?? Also iritis.....did you all have sensitivity to light??

I've noticed my left foot giving me problems......starting at the arch of my foot..the outside part of the arch....to the heel. Little sharp dagger pains. Last for just a little while, then gone....then again...then gone. Then cramps there. Hurts...then gone.

Also...those with iritis....do you all have extreme sensitivity to light?? I dont know.....my eyes seem normal...but lately my eyes are extremely sensitive to light. MUST wear sunglasses at all times. My eye burns real bad....mostly right eye without shades one. When I look at it.....appears normal. Who knows...... Nothing fails to amaze me with AS. I've had my eyes checked out before....and they were just irritated a while back and eye doc gave me eye drops.....lasted only a couple weeks...then gone. This time....seems to make my eyes burn real bad. They arent red though......just feel irritated. Also woke up with another mouth ulcer....eek!! Brushed my teeth...and ran out of bathroom screaming not so christian vocabulary!

thoughts would be appreciated. On the up side...my hip isnt too bad today!!

Talk to you all soon......hope everyone is doing okay....nightbug is going to bed........been packing and moving ..more like directing Art to moving stuff into storage.....not allowed to assist with any boxes.......so I just get to "supervise"......Art is having second thoughts about THAT!!!

See ya' all later.....

Toodles!
Angie

No thankyou Angie, but was kind of you to offer....

Ok seriously now I have had foot pain. In fact had that for along time before being diagnosed with AS. I found a great podiatrist to help me...(wish I could find a rheumy that good lol) I had to have orthotics made to insert in my shoes and as long as I am a good girl about wearing them, I don't get even a fraction of the pain in my feet anymore.
Now the eye problem I have been wondering about as well. My eyes have really been bothering me lately, with light sensitivity and blurry vision that comes and goes. I was just thinking mine was allergy season yet again. Who knows?? If I ever get in to see the doc I will ask him.
Glad to hear your hip is doing better today.

Take care dear buggie

Bugs,

The Feet - it's how it all started for me, heel daggers and also the little bones across the top of the feet as well. I think it might be called planar fas***** something or other - Jeanna knows what it's called!

It lasted about 3 months on and off although the heels can be a little sensitive now even 16 years later. (not enough to cause issues - only if I've been on my feet all day)

As for the light, only bright sunshine - I seem to get my shades on before most (but that's just 'cause I'm cool ) Yeah, right!

Hope it doesn't cause too many problems for you

Cheers
Jo

Dear Angie,

I always had a heel pain, and it feels so terrible, and I don't know whether I have to wear flat shoes or high heel shoes cause both feels the same. Prefer lower heel though cause at list it won't harm or add burden to my back.

At that time, every time I move one step, use to yell "ouch ouch" and I don't know what's going on.

Ever since I have AS, seems like I have to say "bye-bye" to all of my high heel shoes, or high heel boots, but now ........ cause the miracle of the diet, I try to bring those back, not every day but perhaps on special occassion like a party or having a special guest in my office. You should see me in my dark suit and high heels now .

As for Iritis, nope, I never have that problem and hope that I never will. But I read one post on NSD section, the diet help this problem too.

Hope you are doing okay too, it's not an easy time for you but I will always keep you in mind and send prayers all the time. Keep up the good spirit and try not to stress out.

Take care,

Sinta

PS: The diet bring my eye sensitivity back on the good side, now, I pay more attention to "cute guys" , maybe I could try to catch one of them. Well, I wouldn't mind for someone look like Cannavaro or Nesta (Italian soccer players). Oh yeah, been watching World Cup at the moment and wow, very good games.

Plantar fascitis I've been plaqued with it for years, once limped and caned my way through a variety of Caribbean islands on a cruise, not fun I do achilles stretching exercises every morning and that has helped a lot, also Arava, the meds I'm on, keeps the symptoms down to a simmer.

I have plantar fascitis (the dreaded, dratted heel pain), feels like a metal spike is going up through my heel whenever I put weight on it. I do achilles stretching exercises every morning which helps. I've never had iritis but many bouts of conjunctivitis, red eyeballs, gritty in the morning. I have Sjogrens (dry eye) so that's probably the cause, feels like my eyes are starched, and yes, when it flares up my eyes are very sensitive to light. I use artificial tears, NOT eye drops, so you could get some and see if that helps. Dry eye goes along with AS, also dries up your spit (that's a technical medical term) so if that's happening you might think about getting a sonic toothbrush, with dry mouth the plaque can really attack your teeth. So check with an eye doc to rule out iritis which can be dangerous, and he/she can do a tear test to see if your tear production is down or absent. Dry eye doesn't mean you don't produce tears, you can still cry, it means that the oily substance that lubricates your eyes is not part of the mix, or not in enough quantity.

buggie,
for me when the heel pain starts, it signals a small flareup is on the way for me! I have gone to custom orthotics($200) and they really help. Two years now, only two episodes of heel pain. Also have heel spurs they showd up on x-ray! You can also tape up your arch a certain way that keeps your arch streched, check with your doc, it works! The doc can also give you a cast to wear a night when you sleep, ya right!. it also keeps the plantar tendon streched.
The iritis I have no cure for, my eyes just run, and burn and sting and run. I put a cold compress over my eyes and nasal area for quick relief.
Peace Arthur in California. Tell Arthur to hang in there, things will turn.
