If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I have had tmj problems for years. There is not much you can do about them. It is very expensive because insurance coverage for this is pretty limited, and medical treatment is ineffective. You can try a mouth gaurd at night. You can buy sport mouth guards. The kind that you actually heat up and fit to your mouth is the best. If you are griding your teeth at night that should help. I have had quite a few flares with my TMJs where I can barely talk or eat. Yes it is painfull and stress does not help any. The pain comes and goes and knock on wood has been pretty good for a while. My jaw cracks so loud sometimes other people can hear it when I am eating. Hope you pain goes away soon. Shari

the rude comments that came to my mind are rated "R", so I guess I will behave...... Lori PS...Eric sends kisses..... A dog will come when called, a cat will take a message and get back to you later.

Hiya J, Yep...have TMJ.....although amnot having any trouble with it currently. It's the worst! Hurts to chew, talk, think...my eye hurt.......ugh! I had two different ortho's.....two different bite planes, and a new anti-inflammatory, (gave up nachos, and hard food) before I had any relief. I think it just had to run it's couse. Stress worsens it big time! I'm a "clencher" when I sleep, although two drs insisted I was a "grinder". They were proved to be wrong. Definately a clencher over here. When stressed...I clench the whole day long, as well as at night. I hope you find something to help soon...I know how hard it is to concentrate on anything else when the pain is the head. (and I mean that literally....not the imaginary kind. ) Good Luck J! Cheers, Steph

I'm a clencher too, and stress really will cause a major TMJ flare! After Rick died and my stress level was off the charts I had the worst bout of TMJ in my life, lasted over a month Cheryl Dogs believe in long term relationships

Yes - same here! I just can't help it, either - even when I'm conscious of doing it (most of the time I'm not!) It's been worse since I've had all those problems with that dental implant (almost 2 years now), but nowhere near as bad as the pain I'm getting from the damaged nerve caused by all the dental work I've had done! A word of warning to anyone thinking of having a dental implant; DON'T!!! Sue

Hi I have had horrible inflammation the TMJ. The first time it happened, it lasted for months and was very severe. I couldn't open my mouth more than one finger width for more than a year. My rheumy said it was not my AS. (I had an oral surgeon telling me that I needed surgery. ) My rheumy sent me to Boston to see Dr. Anderson, a nationally noted Rheumy for a second opinion and he said that AS could definitely do that to my jaw and that is what I was dealing with.
I use heat and ice, heat temporarily reduces pain, ice reduces the inflammation, in the mean time, hang in there. MM

Dear Jeanna: I had severe TMJ and it was due to AS. Now that I can eat...I can't eat starch, else it could return. Get out of inflammation--hardware will make things worse (a friend with CD had TMJ and learned that--even had the surgery that she regrets even still. This was many years before I had TMJ; long before I knew how to control it...). Best Regards and hopes for speedy recovery, John

John,
What if the TMJ is not due to AS, but to some other factor? At that point, where else is there to go besides appliances and/or surgeries??
Just curious.

Jeanna,
I don't really know about TMJ but I wish you can out from it very soon.
Take care, Sinta
