Started with terrible stomach pain Monday which got the arthritis flaring. Also has mysterious blisters popping up on her back, which she saw the derm. for last Friday. Regular biopsy was negative. He said it could be one of her meds or it could be another type of autoimmune disease, so will send a biopsy off for an autoimmune assay next week when we see him.

Kate called rheumy yesterday, who said to come in immediately (70 mile drive). She is is perplexed by stomach/spine/rash combination. Wanted Kate to see GI doc within a week. she could get us in that quick to someone in Dallas, but it's a half day off work for me every time we run to Dallas to the doc. Thank goodness the office manager of the local GI practice is a good friend of mine and she got us in MONDAY! There is usually a 2 month wait.

I am taking Kate to have blood work done in a few minutes. She was too dehydrated at the doctor yesterday to find a vein.

My heart goes out to you and that sweet young daughter of yours. I hadn't know until recently how tough it is to watch and try to help a loved one when you don't have the answers. You both are in my little family's thoughts.

Sandi,

I would be really interested in hearing what you find out about the blisters. I get white spots under the skin on my back, not really blisters. They come and go. Never had a dr who could explain it. One said he did a lot of research on it between appts but couldn't figure it out.

Hi there.....
So very sorry to hear about your daughter not feeling well. Been there before with the dehydration. That happened to me alot while I was preggers with my baby 22 months ago......preAS problems started popping up at that time. My veins were collapsing all the time and they did not know what or why it was happening to me. I was getting mouth ulcers frequently at that time. I hope the GI doc can get some answers for you and Kate quickly....I know how tough it is...

As for the rash/blisters.....I've had that happen to me. Has she started any new medicines...??? I had that happen and my dermatologist said I get "vascular" reactions. Which means the reactions take a few days for the med to cause a reaction. I had my worst one with Sulfasalazine. It was actually helping me a bit...but it took about almost two weeks when I started with a few red blisters .....then after a couple days...yikeys!! I had my whole calves covered completely up!! It took about a month for them to clear up. It was awful..and he just gave me a cream to help them heal and that was it......wait it out. I hope your daughter gets better soon....and will keep you all in my prayers.......she's such a beautiful and sweet girl.....much too young to have to go through this..breaks my heart....hugs to you my friend....]]]]]]]

Toodles!
Angie
