Hello Johnny,

Sometimes the spewing of the pain and anger is the answer. Go ahead and be mad and sad. This stuff hurts.

Fact is, the future IS uncertain. For everybody. Focusing on the uncertainty changes nothing. The key is to find a way--your own personal, special, individual way--to get OK with the uncertainty & to make peace with yourself. That is, I think, the best part of being alone.

Take another look at those stars.

Wishing you nothing less than the best life has to offer,

Bee

I think you bring up a GREAT point. A partner can make things better, but most times the chances are they can and will make things very...VERY....BAD. It really is a sort of mentality that a partner can solve all your problems. Those on groups with supportive families are IMHO actually in the minority. The majority of people do NOT have someone like that.

Like we said on the Women's forum...better single and

Even less so do I think kids should be treated as a "fix-it". I do NOT believe kids are any sort of therapy. I mean, it's great that people love their kids, I'm not saying they can't, but too many singles-without-kids think that the kids will SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS. WROOOOONG! This is totally unfair to the kids. That's exactly why I don't want kids right now, if ever. They are not a way to solve problems. They are living, breathing, conscious entities and deserve a little more than that I think.

I think a singles' forum is a great idea!! I'm all for it

Gee, you sound just like a female version of me, with just a few differences. I do have a sister (we can't get along) and do not believe in god (at least not a god of human mythological creation).

How old are you, if I may ask? The reason I'm asking is the similarities are so striking, especially to the me of a few years ago. You say you have a degree you can't use. So did I. I was an English major (of all stupid things). But I managed to convince myself to go back to grad school and get a Masters in Library Science. I took my love of Literature and applied it to a degree that I could use. At the time I decided I needed to go back, I had just been fired from a dead-end job in retail. You say in your profile that you are a "grunt" for a retail chain. Seven years ago or so, that was me. Maybe even if your personal life stays crappy like mine has, you too can still turn around other areas of your life. I did.

Now as for what you say about KickAS, yea, these folks are pretty special. They wouldn't flame you for expressing something like what I did. Oh, now, mind you, there have been flames and trolls in the past, but not about something so personal as depression about being alone. And besides, anyone who has been here long enough knows better than to start a flame war with old Painindaas... How do you think I got my name, besides from the AS?

Please pm me if you would like to talk more. I'm really intrigued by how much we have in common.

Johnny

As long as it's Oprah and not Jerry. Can you imagine that, ASers and their former Rheumies on Jerry Springer... now that ought to bring in the ratings.

Thanks for the nice messages, Linc. But as far as what you say about choosing music... I would give up my career in a heartbeat if I could have a musical talent. I write lyric after lyric, but have nobody to help me put them to music. By the way, if you ever decide to really start "whistlin Dixie" then come on down. If you make 30 Gs in Bama, you can live pretty nicely.

Hey, Pete, I've already got a pretty cool cane. Not as magical looking as the one Linc describes, maybe, but still pretty cool. My friend that works for a medical equipment company got if for me. It is hand carved (looks very antique) with a fancy epoxy handle, and it only cost me 8 bucks, but don't tell my friend's boss.

I want to thank each and every one of you for lending me your strength. You all mean more to me than you will ever know. I just wish I had time to inividually answer each post, but my fingers would soon wear out... and that in itself speaks volumes about this support group. I love you, KickAS! And KickAS is each and every one of you, my friends.

Jerry: "Linc, you want to kill your rheumy, right?"
Rheumy: "But why? All I did was give him drugs and tell him to go home!"
Linc: (struggles to stand, grabs chair...) "Why, I should just hit you over the head with this chair!!!" (lifts chair....lifts...lifts...back gives out...lifts anyway...screams...falls over...)
Jerry: "OhMy GOD, stop the cameras!! We've got a fight!!" (Security storms the stage...)
