The colder the better!

It is all in your head. If you enjoy summer, then you will have more pain in winter. If you enjoy winter, you have more pain in summer.

I love the cold and snow, and I have considerably less pain in winter. I absolutely hate summer. You sweat, burn, drag your butt in the humidity, and once you are naked, you can't do anything else to cool off in a normal activity. Whereas in winter, you get cold, you put on more clothes! And continue your activity! Simple! Awesome! A heck of a lot better than summer for sure!

So there ya go, winter rules........... BRING ON THE SNOW!!!!!!

It also helps when you have a ski-doo!

Funny you should ask! i have been having lot of pain in middle of back and hip and feet. It has been really cold and damp here in Illinois. I dont know if it is actual pain in my back or back ribs. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Take care, Connie

Cold and humid weather makes me walk like a 90 year oldie, and gets me more stiff and sore.

Now it's WINTER with very big letters here in Norway, and I go to sleep with a huge sweater and a scarf. Sometimes I inevitably get too warm during the night, but I don't get so stiff and painful in the morning, since I have kept my neck, torso and arms warm all night. (I hate sleeping in a warm room, so I prefere piles of scarfs and socks! )

All in all I am a very well-temperated girl, and so is my pain....we hate anything that makes us freeze or sweat

Bye bye from

Steph,
I feel a lot worse pain wise in the winter time. It seems the worse when
there is a dramatic change in the weather. I can almost tell when there
is a dramatic change in the pressure.
Take care !

I'm with Doug on this one. Given a choice, and if it were a half-way reasonable option, I'd be much happier north of the arctic circle. Or maybe I should have gone into bio-research after all so I could live at the research stations on Antarctica. This whole "Florida" thing is just miserable... how long until I graduate? If I get my way I'm doing my doctorate in MICHIGAN. Like many others said though, CHANGE in weather is the worst.

Well, I think that Doug and Erie are just plain WARPED!!

My pain levels have increased significantly since the colder weather set in. Definitely worse on damp and cold days. I LOVE the hot humid weather we have in summer (kind of works like a 24/7 hot water bottle).

The only good thing about global warming is that it's turning my country into a temperate zone instead of a freeze zone. And believe me, I'm proud of Canada's designation of Great White North. I just wish it didn't get so greatly cold to be so greatly white from snow.

Hugs,

Kat

Well, I think I have more pain and stiffness in the cold weather months only when I GET cold, not necessarily due to the weather. Also, I have noticed that I am less active in the winter months (although I continue going to the gym, but my daily chores outside have stopped for the winter), so less activity=more stiffness.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

A change in the weather, no matter the season, come to think of it, affects me. Colder months in particular.

Those of you who love the snow are MORE than welcome to come and take ours when it comes! Just leave enough in the middle of the front lawn and on the neighborhood hills for the kids to slide and build snowmen.
The rest is yours.......NO CHARGE!!

Cheers,
Steph

So I guess the conclusion is that there isn't much correlation with weather. I am in the central Pacific (Marshall Islands) where it is always comfortably warm and usually humid. Flares come and last. To me stress may be significantly linked, but I don't know. It seems that there is always something to stress about. Are ASers less prone to handle stress well?

I saw one posting at http://bbs.spondylitis.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000844.html that would link it to nanoviruses. Interesting if this was all the result of being infected by bugs, even though very small ones! Anyway the author of that posting is undergoing the drug campaign and reports some improvement. He also says he was told to not expect to see much improvement for 4 months so he is only half way there. I am wishing him the best!
