I've been remiss or just plain cowardlyand not even tried to post in Johnny's creative ASkickers. Essentiallyonly he has had the courage to do so. Now I've read lots of creativity here and yet not found anyone brave enough to join our resident poet in giving and sharing a poem , vision or short story over in that very special place. SO how about a homework assignment for the weekend. Either create something new to throw in over there or dig up something from your childhood , dating days or dabbling days and share it with us by weekend's end. I figure since Johnny and Loz {newPop) have done so much work lately with the rest of the Admin its the least we can do.
Besides my library card expired and this is a cheap way for me to read some up and coming Arteests.
I fart comes from pain we should have a bonanza here.
(Note I gave this an effort at editing since my tyupos are the worst- but when I read the last sentence I laughed to hard to edit- {intended IF ART} became too funny with me hitting the space bar too soon) Sorry but I amuse easily.

One night I dreamed I was walking
Along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that
During the low periods of my life when I was
Suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints,
So I said to the Lord, "You promised me,
Lord, that if I followed You,
You would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods
Of my life there have only been
One set of prints in the sand.
Why, When I have needed You most,
You have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
Is when I carried you."

So your contribution to the art on KickAS is I fart???? Geez, Steve, you've gotta get more sleep!!!!

Here goes, and in honor of Loz's new baby, this is a poem I wrote to my daughter around her first birthday.

Little womanchild
I watch you move through the house
Unused to this business of walking
Yet managing somehow
Dragging Raggedy Ann by the foot
And singing your sweet baby songs
Yes, my daughter, still I watch you
Half in awe, and half in fear
Of the task that lies ahead
Can I teach yet not destroy
Can you learn and still not lose
Your beautiful, fearless innocence?

I had considered replying, but don't think I can beat Bob's answer!

OK, OK I'll try.

Roses are red, violets are sweet
I have way too many pills to eat!

Apples are juicy, persimmons are bitter
Is anything worse than this pain in my 'sitter'?

I shamelessly lifted this from something I posted on the old forum last winter sometime, but I figure theres a lot of new folks, so maybe it's worth taking it out and dusting it off. The trick is it's up to you guys to add to the verses.

I've got the AS Bluuuues!

Oh, it started many years ago,
It was a world of pain
But they said, "There's nothing wrong with you,"
Had to wonder if I was sane.

I've got the ASkicking, pain bitten bluuues

Take a mother's little helper,
Maybe see a shrink
Get rid of that depression
And you'll be in the pink

What's a girl to do? KickAS!

Found another doctor, got another plan,
Heavy duty drugs, man, this ain't bad
Take 'em by the handful, still got the pain
And that's when you know you've been had

By AS, time to start kicking

But I finally have some answers,
AS is what I got
And they switch around my doctors
And the new doc says, "Not!"

I've got the ASKicking, doctor fricking bluuues

If there's nothing really wrong with me
If it's all in my head
Will someone please explain why
I can't get out of bed!

Tag, your it

Nothing wrong with great shows being run again and again, and this was a great post the first time! Now I'm officially (well, since Mark is really the Creative Forum Moderator... I guess not really officially... but I'll take the liberty anyway) giving you the duty of taking the post and any new verses added and putting the completed version in the Creative Forum. Thanks, and I'll try to add another verse a little later!

Beautiful poem, and beautiful sentiments!!! Now put it in the Creative Forum.

I want to qualify what the Forum description says about being for writings about "life with AS." This may make it appear that the writings in the forum must be directly AS-Related. That's not what I intended when I created the forum. "Life with AS," thankfully, includes much more than just the disease... like the wonderful sentiments of a parent about a child and hopes for the future!
