Simone,

These things have plagued me for years, even before things got more rampant.

Dr's explanation:

Years ago, "there's a stage in your sleep where your limbs are paralysed, and if you are awakened abrubtly you will have numb arms etc....."

or............."it's something you are doing in your sleep", mind you they say that about the pain too".......

others have blammed the herniated worn discs irritating the nerves,

The latest is adhesions of the nerve sheath on the left side in the shoulder going to the arm. However recently me and the PT have been pulling some adhesions off. Not my idea of fun, but even that did n't cause this to happen it only happens during a major flare or spasm period.

What has helped in the past is prreventive releasing some of the tightness esp in the neck, I find a long spa and stretching helps.

The real fix is anti inflammatories NSAID or preddy.

My experience unless there's a constant problem or evidence of more serious nerve problem they are relunctant to do much. But of you have lingering problems afterwards or it keeps happening go and see your Carer.

Sorry to sound -ve or like Dr but that's the way they are.....

I hate it I woke up last week (it was a horrid one for pain) not only the arm but the shoulder were GONE, as it came back to life it was pretty painful the pins and needles were more like electric buzzes from an incorrectly set TENs machine.

Hope you get better!

Dave
