1) When I'm really bad and can't get to the ground and back up, I stand with my back against the wall, try to tuck my pelvis/tummy in and "try" to get my back as straight as possible. (Not saying that I or any of us really can, but it feels better for me). I also try those tummy tucks standing up (I remember most often when in the shower with that lovely warmth of the water loosening me timbers) and I do that 10X or whatever and try to hold it. I don't do it too quickly though.
2) when feeling a bit better, I do the same as Ben (aloha!) and those tummy tucks are with my back to the ground. (the way I get up is like a pregnant lady getting up, roll to left side, bring right arm and right leg over tucked in, and push to get up -- not that you really needed that info)
3) The BEST that I have is a 30 minute stretching session on the Power Plate at the gym. My trainer (the owner of the gym) is fabulous at helping me stretch... But, I know that info isn't very helpful to a majority of the population because of the lack of Power Plates out there and the expenses attached. But, you asked so I thought I'd answer truthfully.
So glad you posted this question. It is very helpful to me to see what others do.
Thanks!
