Hi all,
I've been taking Remicade now for 3 years +, stopped a couple of times, due to raised ALT's & skin rashes. Had my dosage altered (my idea), well it is the NHS. I'm now only taking 100 mg every 12 weeks, so very low dosage & is working very well for me. Pain levels low, right up to my next dosage & not taking any other meds. So on a whole feeling good benefits.
Over the last six months or so I have been suffering from neck/rear scalp type tension. Also from time to time feeling a pulse at the back of my scalp area. Rheumy dept not much help, so don't really want to talk to them anymore about it. Could these symptoms be Remicade related? Or just my AS? As I'm now considering discontinuing the Remicade.
Also I know of a friend that has been diagnosed with terminal cancer (none AS'er), found a lump under his arm 5 weeks ago, now in hospital & has been given weeks to live. The cancer has read rapidly through his body. Have also recently found out that my brother has got a unusual dark patch of skin on his back, he is getting checked out at his local hospital next week. This has now given me food for thought. I try to keep myself as healthy as possible, taking regular exercise. I have read some articles that suggest that Remicade may increase the chance of getting cancer by up to 3 times. Even if this is the case, I presume the chances are still very low? Think it's just the way I'm feeling at the moment.
I'd appreciate any advice.
Thanks.
