My options have opened up with my medical release.  There are no more salutes and I can do whatever I like, clip things wherever they are needed and all.  Heck, I could even put my hands in my pockets and smoke a cigarette as I walk along the street whistling if I want to.
I found that my right bicep would get rather sore and worn out after a short while but when my arm got the message that I wasn't going to put the cane away, it stopped throwing a temper tantrum and smartened up.
