Did the Neurologist (or his office) tell you why he wants the lumbar puncture? Doctors rarely order invasive tests without a good reason for doing so. LPs are useful for more then "just" MS diagnostics. Could he want the procedure to check on your Pituitary Adenoma? Evaluation of the spinal fluid from an LP can be useful for tumor evaluation. In some countries it is also used in Lyme diagnostics. There are many other reasons for this test. If you are unsure about the test itself or the reason for it, ask. If it is not urgent, perhaps it could be scheduled at a more convenient time.
