Something I just observed in the last few days..
My fiancé's mother made a dish that I noticed *seems* to reduce the itch. It has a lot of onion and mashed garlic in it, as well as mashed fresh ginger, paprika, turmeric, msg, fish sauce .. and cooked in lots of oil until the onion is sweet and almost burnt.
lots of garlic & onion : both are rich in inulin (and sulfur too I think)
