If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Ok good, now I have your attention As some of you may remember, Shug was prescribed Meloxicam in his latest fight against AS. He was previously on Indocid but his doctor wanted to change to something less troublesome on the stomach. Shug adjusted to the Meloxicam after a few side effects, but one remained/remains lack of libido. Obviously this effects us as a couple and today Shug finally swallowed his pride and went back to the doctor and told him he was (we were) very unhappy with the Meloxicam. The doc asked lots of questions, one of them was the timing of the loss of libido, now both of us agree it happened around the time just after Shug began the Meloxicam. Just to make the situation clear here, it's not that Shug can't "perform", it's he can't get in the mood to "perform". So anyway, the doc has changed Shugs script, he's now trying Piroxicam/Feldene, have yet to look it up, the doctor said it may well have been the Meloxicam that affected his libido or it may have been coincidence, we won't know until we try the new meds. Shug asked what would happen if nothing changed, the doctor said......wait for this..........VIAGRA!!! Right so now to my question......I thought viagra was prescribed because a man was 'physically" unable to perform, not just because he wasn't in the mood??? Or am I wrong here. I've also read about the struggles of men who can't get viagra on prescription....Shugs doc said yes he'd prescribe it for him, is this normal?? Or are we just lucky?? Hopefully there won't be the need for us to resort to Viagra (we are only 33 ). But it's good to see we have a sympathetic doctor, willing and able to help us (him!). Any experience regarding anything I've mentioned would be greatly received. Take care

Hi Jackie, just wanted to let you know that I sympathize with your problem. Also, has Shugs been stressed or down about anything that might also have coincided with the beginning of the Meloxicam prescrition? Hugs, Kat

Hi, You are correct viagra is more for physical inability to sustain an erection. It actually requires stimulation in order to work. You don't just pop a pill and instant erection. So I don't see how viagra will help when the problem is lack of sexual drive. This sounds more in the realm of some other pills available, like some of the diet pills. Anyway there are drugs for lack of desire as well as for physical limitations. So don't give up hope. I am sure once the effects of the one drug wears off things will get back to normal for him. Hi Kat, We talked about this together, ya know was anything worrying him, was he stressed at work etc etc and of course the doc asked these questions too, but in the main, no. I mean I even went as far as to ask him was there anyone else , how awful of me to think of such a thing but allsorts goes through your mind in a situation like this! We can only hope things improve with the new meds Take care

Hi Phill, That's exactly what I thought! I couldn't get my head around the doc saying he's prescribe Viagra!. I wasn't aware there were other pills out there that could help, I'll let Shug know when he's home today, at least it gives us both hope that something may be available to help. Take care

Jackie, I don't think it's awful of you to ask that question. Heck, something is going on and when you've exhausted all the other possibilities... But I know that you and Shugs trust each other ultimately, and I'm sure he realizes that you were just trying to find a reason for the problem. Hopefully, you'll find the answer soon. Hugs, Kat

Hi, Jackie: Viagra performs a useful function even in persons who believe that their libido is low. The positive feedback from the physical arousal makes a great difference in the perception of the psyche. Men are wired quite differently from the other options, and the logic behind why things work or don't is never very obvious. If bp is an issue, there are good vitamin and herbal options that include vitE, yohimbe, arginine, wild yam extract, ginseng, choline, vitB5, zinc, etc. Dr. Mercola has some good advice: http://www.mercola.com/2003/jan/29/impotence_drugs.htm. Good luck to you both-- John

Can't answer any of your questions but I know there are lots of medications out there that affect libido - - in women as well as men. I'm glad Shug has a caring doctor who is taking this seriously. I don't know much about Viagra but perhaps it also works in this situation, a lack of desire caused by another drug interferring, and this will even out the balance? Good that you ruled out the psychological first, though, no sense taking yet another pill for no reason. As for me I'm contemplating a nunnery Cheryl Dogs don't care if the house is clean
