I guess my theory that I was possibly cured was erroneous. For the past month I have been ever more lax in my diet thinking the rutin had strong enough antiinflammatory action to prevent flare or that, indeed, my gut was healed. The last week I had been feeling increasingly tired. Then the straw that nearly broke my back and eye...an irresistable bowl of my wonderful homemade potato salad! This is day 2 of strict NSD and Celebrex 200mg BID and my eye is dramatically improved and my energy level is improving. Ever the optimist, I just had to experiment!! Thankfully, I had the NSD to restore my health!

I guess if you don't test the waters you would never know what great things the diet was doing for you. Sometimes I think I know what Adam and Eve must have felt like not being able to eat the forbidden apple. And I am still waiting for the amazing results that everyone is getting on the rutin. How long were did it take for you to notice the results of the rutin? Glad to hear you are back on track and that there was a recourse for you. Hope it was good potatoe salad!

I tired the Rutin, MSM, Omega 3, Primrose, Vit E, and a couple of others for a couple of weeks. I quit taking them all and other then a thicker wallet I notice no difference. My gut is healed nicely I believe and I attribute it more to the NSD then anything else. Perhaps the aloe juice helped, but who knows. I drank a couple gallons of it and still have a glass of it every day or two. Strict NSD for a couple months does alot of good.

Deborah,

there was nothing wrong with the apples on Adam and Eve's tree per se, nor was there anything wrong in seeking after knowledge; the sin was one of disobedience. I do sometimes wonder whether those of us who thrive on the diet have sado-masochistic tendencies and an enjoyment of discipline, and those who stray are more normal.

They wear ''their brains in their bellies, and their guts in their heads,'' as Agrippa taxed some parasites of his time, rushing on their own destruction, as if a man should run upon the point of a sword, they eat till they burst ...

Deborah,
I noticed improvement within a week on the rutin. I would say that if you feel no different after 2-3 weeks that it probably is of no value to you. I have forgotten if you are HLAB27+? I am, don't know if that may factor in. Plus, how much are you taking? I'm taking an anti-inflammatory dose of 500mg 4x/day. One positive thing is that it doesn't seem to take as long to come out of these flares as it once did.
Best of luck!

Linda:
Are you taking 500mg of Rutin 4 x /day? Do you space it out? Do we need to take it with food? I am taking Rutin 2 x a day 500 mg.
Thanks

Hi Linda,

I started with a Solgar brand rutin the first of June. It says on the front of the bottle it is starch free. I had a small bottle that I took for about 10 days and seemed to get good results. When I ran out I tried to find the same brand in town and couldn't find it so I tried another brand. I was not able to duplicate the results. I ordered more solgar brand and have been taking it for about 1 wk now and it isn't working the same but maybe I need a few more days. I am currently taking 1000 mgs three times per day. I take it with meals. Yes I am HLAB27 positive.

you had to go lax for a month to break your back...that is as good as a cure..meaning that if you eat starch moderatly, you might jsut be able to get away with it all the time...once a week for instance, just for taste and all.

It is possible I may have had an experience like this the first week or two I took rutin - but it is too long ago for me to remember.

Other than that first week or two, I have only used Rutin for the pain I get in my hands and left knee (enthesitis) and the pains I get in my eyes (iritis). I have to take this supplement twice a day - every day.. otherwise the pain in my hands returns very quickly. I only have to forget to take it for a day and tiny pangs of pain start to come back !

If I increase my dose of rutin and then suddenly decrease it... then I get a small amount of pain for about a day, which settles down fairly quick. . . So, I recommend cutting the amount slowly.

Maybe Rutin works a little different for some people ? Or perhaps there is a veriation between products? I dont know.. "Buckwheat" used Rutin too and she said it helped with the pain in her hands as well. But I believe it didn't help with her iritis.. Have not seen her post lately though..

I always thought it was pretty funny that "Buckwheat" decided to try taking Buckwheat

regards,
z

I don't have pain in my hands but I do have knee pain. I would say my knee hasn't been bothering me as much since I started taking it. Hasn't helped with shoulder or hip pain at all. I have never had iritis that everyone talks about, touch wood.
