If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

WELCOME, Simon: I lived in San Jose for many years, so I have an idea what you are going through right now and I WON'T tell you the best restaurants there ...they serve STARCH! MAYBE you will avoid the damage if you get off NSAIDs early enough and look at the NSD as a temporary, therapeutic measure. Your age is an important advantage in beating AS; do not delay--AS can sneak up on you especially fast if you take NSAIDs to mask the pain trying to tell you of the damage being done. Antibiotics are not very good to use, or very safe without being combined with the diet and designing a proper protocol around the suspected pathogen (FYI it is called Klebsiella pneumoniae; there is much evidence for this in Ebringer's papers published on this site). If you visit the SoCal area, let us know in advance so we might arrange a meeting. Best Regards, John

Hi Christina,
I was born in Taiwan and came to US in 2000. My job is related to electronic device. The biggest challenge for me is doing device measurement(need to stand very long) and meeting.(hours sitting). They always feel strange why I need to walking around and do extension every 30 min. Economic is bad now, I need to keep this job. I don't know how well celebrex working on me, but swimming and hot spa help me a lot. My trouble is in the morning, it's painful but I know I need to loose it up. Another thing I worry about is the popping everywhere in my joint. It sounds so terrible! Does it mean my joint been damaged? My pain is fine for me to take now. Thanks God I still can swim with just little shoulder and hip trouble. I will try my best on NSD method.
God bless all of you!

Hi Simon, Welcome to KickAS About the No Starch Diet, I know it's not easy to follow especially for Oriental people like us but I've been on this diet for almost two years and it works very well. I can manage my AS, controlling the pain and the most important thing is to prevent the further damage from the disease itself and from theside effects of long term use medication like NSAID's. Plus, you don't have to cut off your rice forever - you can have it back on your menu as soon as you have better condition. Swimming is good - keep it up. I am just visiting my friend in San Jose last month - apart of visiting some of KickAS friends in South California on my US trip . Next time if I go to San Jose again, I will visit you. Stay around and learn more from this website - it's full of information and support. Take care, Sinta

Hi Simon and welcome to KA! You can be sure that your going to make lot's of new friends here. This is a great place and yes your right..."so many good people" And now your part of them/us Sorry to hear that your feeling lonely. Myself as well as everyone here can relate to what your feeling. The pain of AS can sometimes make you feel alone in this world, like nobody truly understands how you feel, but please know that your not alone!! Don't worry about your english... it's great! Glad to hear that your swimming. It's the best kind of exercise you can do for AS. Wish I could do more of it. Just wondering...do you have a rheumotologist yet or just your primary physician? Again welcome to KA. Hope you stick around and get to know all of us here and give us a chance to get to know you. Take care and hugs to you, Lisa

Hi Simon A warm welcome to you I know what lonely feels like. I came to Canada from England when I was 21yrs. of age. My family still all live in England - I am the only one in Canada. Even after all these years, I still miss them terribly. As far as I'm concerned, nobody can ever replace your family but as time goes by we learn to cope. It will get easier - you'll see. You can come here at any time for some friendship and of course for support and knowledge regarding AS. Look forward to your company on this website Maggie

Simon, Welcome to KickAS! One visit to this site is worth three trips to the rheumy! I'm on the low starch diet, and it is working fairly well. I do eat rice. It doesn't seem to bother me. Maybe you're one of the lucky ones too who can eat rice with no ill effect. Watch out for a guy who goes by the screen name DragonSlayer! Rumor has it that he'll personally hunt down anyone he catches consuming wheat, potatoe (note the Dan Quail spelling ), or dairy products and force feed you apples for 3 or more days! I'm just kidding of course. He is the NSD guru around here. I think you'll learn a lot from him. Best regards, Jim

HI Simon, My name is May and I have AS since I was 18. I was born in Hong Kong and now lived in San Francisco. I found that exercising especially swimming is very helpful. I hope you will feel better with the supports from us.
