Hello All!

I have some questions regarding spine curvature. My spine seems to be caving in at the lower portion of my back. It is causing more of an "S" shape than a "C" shape. However when I search for anything like this with AS I end up coming up blank. I'm not sure if this is related to AS or if it is something different. It has become much worse over the past two weeks and last night I had some new levels of pain that I hadn't felt yet. I'm curious if anyone else has had this as part of AS. I would love any information that anyone could give me. Thanks.

Allison

Allison, I have a s-shaped scoliosis of my spine, that was diagnosed while I was still in high school; I do not know if AS has anything to do with or not..DC

Hiya Allison,

I have this, mostly because I am missing a few discs in my lower thoracic/upper lumbar area, which causes my spine to shape into an unusually curvy S-shape rather than a C. In fact I have a LOSS of kyphosis in my upper back so that area is unusually flat....could be compensation for my missing-disc area. However I am not dx'ed with AS so I don't know how much that helps you.
