Good news just came.
I used to work in an NGO and had the best boss I could wish for. We became good friends. We had to close the organization for lack of funding in winter, ever since she was looking for a new job - I bet you can guess what the good news is :)
SHE FOUND A NEW JOB and is very excited about it. The funny part is that a friend of hers who promised her a good position a few months ago and just couldnt find time to say anything specific is now sorry and tells her to start working for him and another boss of a company himself called when she cancelled her interview.
They are now fighting over her. I am so happy for her.

I'll admit that this has been a tricky one lately, but seeing John's reply is enough to make me see the good news much more clearly.

Apart from having a pulse like John, I also have the sun shining brightly through my office window. The sun seems brighter every time it shines recently. I know I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating that over many, many years in times of trouble I've often reminded myself that no matter what happens today, the sun will still come up tomorrow and I've been able to take great comfort in the perspective it gives me. Funny, but it seems to have a special significance for me now.

Apart from that I find myself on a short list of just 2 to get a flat (an appartment) that I've been hoping to secure. So fingers crossed there....

Anyway, as the song goes, "my future's so bright I gotta wear shades"

My Good News -

Well, currently one of my greatest pleasures is taking my son - Leon - out for a walk on the weekends, he just loves to be outside, currently we're taking in the most colourful autumn I've seen in years - its Leon's first and I think we're sharing a similar level of happiness of the beauty that our wonderful world can give us for free.

My good news today is ...

It's sunny in Toronto after far too much time without! Never ceases to amaze me how a sunny day can put a smile on your face.

Hugs,

Hello Hana

Firstly, I've been meaning to tell you for a long while that I think Hana is an absolutely beautiful name.

Second, this thread is a terrific idea, sooooooo like many others have said THANK YOU!!!

Soooo ... what are my good news items?

1) I'm currently in the middle of my surgical rotation (which I was dreading), and I'm having a much better time than I anticipated. Specifically, I changed services this week - I'm now working with the thoracic surgeons. It's FANTASTIC. The residents are kind and helpful, which makes a WORLD of difference. On a personal note, I'm finally starting to feel comfortable making some (minor) medical decisions. I wrote my first hospital orders today *proud smile* and I had a patient tell me (within earshot of my attending) that I was going to make a terrific doctor.

2) It's a long story, but I ended up somewhere tonight that I didnt intend to be - at this little shopping mall not too far away. It was such an uplifting experience for a plethora of reasons:
(a) the mall was having a pre-Halloween best costume contest (and the kids were trick or treating at the shops) ... so I saw a whole lot of happy, adorable, healthy, well-costumed children.
(b) I found precisely what I wanted at the store in mere minutes (which is really good for me, bc I don't like doodling when shopping ... unless it's grocery shopping, but that's a whole other story )
(c - this one relates back to good news #1) The clerk at the shop was a patient I had seen in a clinic last week, and she remembered me ... even my name!!!

3) As I've alluded to recently, I've had a tougher go of things recently ... health-wise and personally. This last month has been the best I've seen in a long time ... so good in fact that I have this overwhelmingly strong positive energy that feels like it's ebbing around me. It just feels *good* to be alive. I don't think life gets much better than that.

Best wishes to you Hana,

Jeanna

THANKS to all of you for contributing your good news.

My day has just started, it is 8,30 here and I arrived in my office not long ago. Nothing much has happened yet today but I have to tell you how reading your good news makes my day sunny right at the beginning (no sun outside though :))

Special thanks to Jeanna, great news!!!

I made my friend laugh and helped her forget her troubles for a while (her dad is dying of cancer, just a few weeks left).

Have a nice weekend.
