Now George, do you really think I have in for the English? After all, they speak the language so much better than we do and with a cute accent to boot. I would have loved to have met your dad, as I do have a thing for the older gentlemen . Did he smoke a pipe by any chance?

Hi Pambo, welcome to KA!!

That edginess is so familiar. Being in constant pain is such a strain on our emotions, I'm often surprised that we don't go over the edge more frequently than we do. But, somehow, we keep it together with a minimum of damage to the people around us. For the most part anyway.

Interestingly, I've become much more introverted than I used to be (and if anyone here comments on that [Lori] I'll give them an Archie Bunker special) in the last few years. It's freaked out my family and friends. Some of that is due to the relationship I just ended, but I'd become more quiet even before that. My cousin looked at me and told me that she wasn't used to me being that quiet and it was freaking her out!!

Maybe it's that I don't want to take my pain out on the people around me, so I just keep my mouth shut. But I also think that the realizations I've made since being diagnosed two years ago have me reflecting much more, listening to the people around me more, caring more about them. I am thankful to AS for that.

Many hugs,

Kat

Hey, I know you were kidding.

Dad was born in 1899 in the Middlesex area of England. He came over to Canada with his parents, brothers and sisters in 1905 and likely did have an accent then. They lived in the Montreal area till the mid 1920's when they came west to Beautiful BC.

By the time he married and my brothers and I came along, there was no trace of an accent left as he had learned to speak proper English in Western Canada. (chuckle)

Yes, he actually did smoke a pipe but only outside the house as Mom hated the smell of his special tobacco. You like older guys with pipes eh?

George

Hi Pambo

Welcome to KA. If you have been lurking for a while, then you already know what a wonderful group of people this is.

We even manage to keep the trouble makers (Kat, Kathy...) under control most times

Welcome, and I hope you stick around.

Lori

Hi Pambo

WELCOME

I'm happy to hear that you are copinmg well with your AS ( well - for the most part )

I adore Scotsmen myself - my dad was born in Edinburgh and I lived in Scotland for a few years before I came to Canada.

Unlike Old George - I LOVE HAGGIS
