I started Physical Therapy a week ago. The P.T. says he is going to help straighten the curve in my spine and then we are going to "keep" it straight! I feel so much stronger already even though I am very tired. He started with getting some pain relief from the heat packs, etc. Then he put me on the "rolling pin" bed. :o) That is wonderful. Wish I could afford one here at home. Now he has me on an exercise program, weight machines, recumbant bike, sit-down stair stepper and floor exercises. I walked up and down a flight of stairs yesterday without having to do one step at a time or pull myself up by the railing. Yeah yeah Yeah!!!! At this rate I am going to have "abs of steel".

I had to do something. My back is getting so crooked and the pain has been so severe and I see light at the end of the tunnel. I have done P.T. many times but I think I found the right one this time.

Just sharing......

Good news, Keep it going!

Just tell them if you react too much afterwards!

I'm so excited for you! My husband is starting PT again (first time was not helpful) and we are hopeful this time will help. He also has a crooked back and is in alot of pain. His AS is flaring up again and is pulling him far enough forward with his already fused neck that he is feeling choked. Would you mind sharing a little more detail on what you are doing with the PT so that we can take it to our Reumy this Thursday and get some clear orders on what the PT could try that is helping someone in his condition. Many PT's around here are totally unfamiliar with AS. Any advise you could give would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Karen

Good move, Joyce. And it sounds like you found a PT that knows what's what. Glad to hear it.

Hugs,

How wonderful! A good PT is worth his/her weight in gold. The PT I'm seeing now is good too. Please post an update after a while on how you're doing and what has worked the best for you. I recently started water exercises in a heated pool and it's so good for loosening up the stiffness a little.

great news. I am so glad that you found something that works for you.
The stairs and not one at a time that is something I would love to be able to do.

Take care
