Thanks for the reply Kat, and i am going to give it a try. I talk with my wife this morning she wants to try it with me , so we're both going to sign up. I'm at the point where i'll try almost anything, but from what i've read so far and heard from others in the area that are doing it, it may just be the ticket to get me out of this fram of mind i seem to be stuck in.. thanks agian. take care

Hi martin

I actually tried tai-chi and loved it. It helped a little until I turned wrong and hurt my knee . By the time I felt well enough to go back they didn't have the classes anymore. But I was thinking about looking for more as soon as I get the ok from the surgeon that I am allowed to move the hip that much. But I don't get to see him again until Sept unless something happens .
But if there is a class close to you at least try it. It really is quite relaxing.

Take care
Valerie

I tried tai chi as well and loved it a lot. but then i just couldnt find the right class to go on, or probably I wasnt trying hard enough to find it.

Belly dance helps me even more though and every teacher said men can also dance and are really good at it!

Macky,

Long before I developed AS symptoms, I studied Tai Chi for three years; it is a very healthful exercise. It is best to learn it from a qualified teacher.

It is similar to learning a complicated dance step. There are 108 (the number varies depending upon style) sequential moves. Usually, instruction starts with moving to the right. when you accomplish the form in that direction, then you learn the mirror direction.

If you want something similar and less elaborate, try Qi Gong.

Best regards,

jcwinnie

Listen honey.... leotards and sweatpants are most definately something I shouldn't be seen wearing in public either!!!

I think the point is to go to a class.... don't bother buying a "teach yourself" tape... not unless of course, you have someone doing it with you, so you can watch each other at the same time.

I've always wanted to be able to do Tai Chi well. It looks so peaceful and serene while giving ourselves the added benefit of moving our body parts. See.... now you are making me want to find a class!!!!! I think I will!!!! (but I don't think I'll brave a leotard in public... oh no!! no way!!! )

Well Hana, we're defiantly going to give it a try. Like I said I’m ready to try almost anything. But I’m not to sure about the belly dancing . Seeing me in some of those sexy, sparkly outfits would defiantly be considered a crime against humanity. take care

Max, if this is a good as everyone is telling me and if the stories I’ve been reading are true (I see no reason why they wouldn’t be) then this maybe an alternative to more pills and more test. I'm so tired of being poked, prodded and treated like a test subject. But it almost sounds like one of those to good to be true alternatives. But I am going into this with an open mind and allot of determination. Thanks again for your encouragement. Take care

I'm looking into starting a Qi Gong class, as soon as I have money again. It's looks very interesting and so good. If I'm not mistaken, the moves resemble the Pa Qua (don't know how to spell that properly) which Sensei taught us a little of in conjunction with our Tai Chi.

Have you taken Qi Gong?

Hugs,

Kat

I think Tai Chi would be worth it just for the clothes. How else can you rationalize wearing satiny Chinese pyjamas out in the park?

Being a wannabe Taoist, I wanted to investigate Tai Chi. However, it looks too slow and too boring for me. A complex dance of 108 distinct moves? Can you bring those moves on the dance floor if they are sped up?

I am a big believer in yoga, and long walks through the trees.
