Hi all and how is everyone doing? I have a question in reguards to Enbrel use. I started Enbrel 7 weeks ago for my AS and in the 5th week the bottom of my left heel started to get numb and now it is numb to the ball of my foot. Also my right arm from the shoulder to the hand will tingle and be numb when I have it in certain positions. Has anyone had any similar expierence with numbness or tingleing while taking Enbrel?

Jeff..

Hi Jeff, we both posted enbrel threads at same time! Mine's a little different but I have read there can be neurologic problems with enbrel and that was a concern about me trying it (separate problem). Have you discussed it to your dr? Would be worth checking on. I think it's mentioned in the lengthy fold-out literature that comes with the box.

Hey Snowshoe and to all I have a update. I have told the doc about it and he sent me to get a MRI and just talked to the Neuroolgist and he feels it may be Peripheral Neuropathy. I am not convinced. I brout up the Enbrel side effects and he looked at me like I was making it up. Why do they put in the side effects sheet and tell you to contact your doctor immeditaly if any shouls occur and they put it off like you are the patient and I am the doctor so what insight could you have on this. Very frustrating to be percevied that I do not know anything about what aches and pains I am feeling. I brought the paper work in to the rhumy and he had no knowledge of numbness and tingleing as side effects of Enbrel but still the Neurology exercise.

Jeff.. Feeling a tad gritty right now..sorry

Hi,

peripheral neuro is a known side effect to me of the changes that occur in AS, however as some of the guys are finding out the rare side effects of enbrel are demylination.......ie hopefully reversible MS.

Did the neurologist run any tests, ie electrical conduction studies or did they do the typical talking and it's all in your head routine!

What did they find on the MRI?

David

PS Good luck with this, try some vitamin B complexes as well they can help with the verve trouble.

Hey David, Doc suggested conductivity test and I declined at this time to take it. It seemed to be of no concern at the possibility of the AS or Enbrel as a possable cause to the numbness. The MRI showed some narrowing of 2 vertabrae but nothing serious.

Jeff..
