Hi Julie,
I take Flexeril to help me sleep. It is a muscle relaxer. The doctor gave me a script for 10 mg, but I break it in half so I am not feeling tired or hungover in the morning. Hope you find something that will help you get some sleep soon.

Hi Julie, I'm on 10mg Amitryptiline at night before I go to bed. It's really helped and I wake up awake instead of foggy.

I have tried Flexeril, Amitriptline and TRazadone, unable to take any of these unfortunately. I have bad reactions to all three. I know Amitript. is excellent for sleep and chronic pain. Unfortunately due to my interstitial cystitis this drug caused severe urinary retention even at the lowest dose.
I will check into the Klonopin. I was on neurontin a while back for chronic nerve pain but they were unable to get me to the desired dose due to seizure like side effects.
Boy oh boy. Hopefully I will find something.

i take a low dose of amitriplyne and i have had great results, i now sleep 7-8 hrs nightly rather than 3-4 hrs.

That's bad when you have seizure like side effects while taking a drug designed to stop seizures. I take Klonopin at night to stop the muscle jerks I get when my body starts to relax. It usually works for about two months before the desired effects stop and I will go off of it for a week to a week and half when this happens.

The neurologist who put me on it warned me about it stopping working and told me to tell my PCP to prescribe a different drug to take for a couple of weeks when it did. After the week to week and a half of not taking it I start it back and it works for another couple of months again. It's not really a hazzle considering I do get results while I am taking it and it is sure better than jerking waking myself up when I manage to get some sleep.

I was interested to learn another name for zolpidem (ambien) cus thats the one i take.
We i first get meds i look em up before takin em , couldnt find much info bout zolpidem, or any other name, but i know now.
I find zolpidem works most of the time, so usually get good nites sleep, only prob is how quick it takes effect, there have been many times it caught me out, i think rite, i got 20 mins, well, i've fallen asleep while, watchin tv, wake up at 2 in mornin and wonder why i not in bed!,Fallen sleep talkin on the phone. Fallen sleep while tryin send goodnite messages, which was not good, message not get sent, and didnt set my alarm to get up for kids school in mornin!
Thinks it works different on different people, my sis takes it she says it dont work for her!

I have been taking Pamelor for quite a long time. It has really helped
me sleep better most of the time. Nortriptyline is the generic version
of Pamelor.

you have my sympathy on the occiptal pain? Best thiing is to get the inflamamtion down I use the odd clelbrex and it helps.

Hi,
I have used Ambien and Xanax with success.
Also, I think you're in Canada... Well, my hubby is from there so when we go visit, I always come home with an over-the-counter medication called Mersyndol. It has acetaminophin, codeine, and an antihistamine (not sure if i spelled those correctly). The combo almost always works to help me get some shut-eye. Good luck.
